“And that he’ll then go to the convention center for his 1330 meeting from here. My guess is he would make that journey by foot. It’s only a distance of about a hundred and fifty yards.”

“Yes, but heavy security and surveillance at every point in between.”

Jed sighed, leaned back in his chair, and scrubbed his face. It would seem he’d volunteered them for a job that was a true mission impossible. “This sucks,” he said simply.

Nisha shot a glance at Bex, who smiled and nodded. “We did have one other idea that might be an option, thanks to Bex’s combat medic brain.”

“Which is?” Jed sat up, his hope renewed.

“Before I tell you, I need to lead with a disclaimer that this idea would require some for-real James Bond level orchestration, Jed.”

“So something totally out of my wheelhouse, you’re saying?”

“Not totally,” she said with a laugh.

“I’m listening,” Jed said, realizing she’d piqued his curiosity.

As Nisha pitched the plan, a smile spread across his face. Joshua Bravo was truly the most innovative team he’d ever operated with. Despite the obstacles, he felt confident they were going to pull this off . . . but first, a call to Ben was in order. For all its audaciousness, Nisha’s operation came with one big caveat—she was going to need to call in a favor from her past and pull in resources from outside both the CIA and Trinity.

CHAPTER
FIFTEEN

THE WHITE ROOM

ST. GEORGE’S ACADEMY

1655 HOURS LOCAL

Butterflies in her stomach, Sarah Beth raised her fist to knock on the white door at the end of the hallway. This door stood in stark contrast to all others with their dark-stained, lacquered finish. The White Room, as everyone called it, was a closely guarded mystery in a school full of mysteries. Despite pressing her fellow classmates for details, Sarah Beth had yet to find anyone who knew what was inside.

But now she was standing at the threshold, about to have one of the school’s most tantalizing secrets revealed to her.

The door clicked and swung open a split second before her knuckles could make contact, and she whiffed in the air.

“Hi,” Corbin Worth said, grinning in the doorway.

“Hi,” Sarah Beth said, fangirling a little despite herself. She idolized the upperclassman who was the undisputed rock star Watcher at St. George’s Academy.

“It’s good to see you, Sarah Beth,” Corbin said, moving to the side to make room for her to enter.

“You too,” she said, hating the giddiness in her voice. She stepped through a cased opening into a windowless room with a white marble tile floor, stark white walls, and a small white sofa along the opposite wall.

Corbin shut the door behind her. “Are you doing okay? Do you like your roommates and classes so far?”
