Sherry felt breathless too. Wow! What a kiss. Where had this thought come from? Okay, she didn’t have much kissing experience. While Andy and Madison had both kissed her against her will, there was a huge difference between those two experiences. Not even Jimmy, Jake’s father, had kissed her so…softly or with so much passion. His kisses had been wet and awkward and sometimes possessive as if he had been trying to establish his dominance.
Madison’s kiss couldn’t have been more different from these previous encounters.
When Madison took a step back, she held on to Sherry as if needing the support. Without looking away from Sherry, Madison said in a husky voice, “I told you it’s in the freezer, and that’s where it is.”
“No,” Phil said. “I checked it out.”
“Then do it again,” Madison growled.
Madison took another step back, spun around, and marched into the kitchen.
Sherry was grateful for the wall behind her, holding her upright. This didn’t make any sense. She hadn’t wanted to kiss Madison. But for a second, she had almost been able to believe she had enjoyed the kiss.
Nonsense! She wasn’t here because she wanted to be, and she definitely wasn’t a lesbian. So why had she liked Madison’s kiss more than the ones of her only boyfriend so many years back? It had to be Oslo syndrome. No. Stockholm syndrome. Yes, that’s what it was. She had no choice but to kiss Madison, so her subconscious was telling her it wasn’t that bad, that it had even been nice.
Phil rummaged through the freezer and pulled out a bottle of vodka. “Oops. Got it. The little bugger was hiding behind some vegetables. Since when do you have vegetables in the house?”
Madison shrugged. “I’ve got a housekeeper now. She takes care of these things.”
“The Kamikaze is almost gone,” one of the men declared while serving himself a glass.
“Then slow down a bit,” Madison said. “I’ve only had two drinks, meaning I’m probably two or three behind on you guys.” She nudged Phil. “Don’t tell me you didn’t go to Billy’s before you came here.”
“Guilty as charged,” one of the men said, grinning.
“So what?” Phil asked. “Let’s go to the living room to get this party started. And Liam, bring the Coke so we can mix.”
With trembling hands, Madison went back to Sherry, placed her hand on her waist, and pulled her toward the living room. She had kissed Sherry to give the guys a show, but she hadn’t been prepared for the effect it would have on her. Really dumb. After the kiss in front of her grandmother’s house, she should have been warned. She still felt dizzy. And she was very aware of her hand touching Sherry’s slim form. Touching Sherry, smelling and tasting her… It was intoxicating.
