Madison got nearly every woman into bed regardless of their sexual orientation. But Danielle wasn’t her.
“How can I find out without asking her?”
“Dress up, go to the garage, and look for her reaction.”
“Why should I dress up before going to the garage? Wouldn’t that be suspicious?”
Jesus! “Nah. Just bring your car in for a repair during the evening and pretend to be going on a date afterward.”
“Ruth starts at six in the morning and leaves at four in the afternoon. Besides, my car is just fine. And even if it weren’t, I do little repairs on it myself, as you well know. The only time I visit is to see my folks.”
“Okay. Now I get why you need my help. I guess I’ll pay your dad a visit next week and check your babe out. See how she reacts to my flirting.” As soon as she’d said it, she wanted to take her words back. What was up with her? She didn’t walk around offering help to just anybody. But this isn’t just anybody. This is Danielle. That didn’t change the fact that it was kind of ironic that Madison of all people would be helping Danielle to hook up with a woman.
“No!”
Madison blinked. “No?” For once she had offered help, and Danielle had said no?
“I don’t want you to flirt with her.”
Madison rolled her eyes. “Fine. Then, um, invite Bill and all the mechanics to a party, and I’ll take a look at her. I’m sure you can find something to celebrate here.”
Danielle opened her mouth as if to protest.
“I’ll just look, I promise.”
This plan was perfect. A party would give her a chance to introduce Sherry to this part of the family. And given that Bill seemed to talk to her grandmother frequently nowadays, the witch would hear about Sherry in an inconspicuous way. This would all work like a charm.
“In two weeks, it’s Mom’s birthday. That would be a great opportunity, and Mom would love it.”
“Problem solved. Just text me the details when the party’s arranged.”
“Thanks, Mad. You’re a lifesaver.”
Following Sherry’s suggestion to make her transformation more believable, she said, “Please call me Madison.”
“Madison?” Danielle spoke her name as if trying it out. “Why?”
“I’m too old to be called Mad, don’t you think?”
Danielle’s lips twitched. “To be honest, I always liked your real name better.”
“Really?”
Red curls bounced up and down when Danielle nodded.
Why hadn’t she ever told her? “So what about your offer? What’s it about?”
Danielle slurped her caramel milkshake and grinned like the cat that got the canary. “I want you to join my business, help me to hire new staff and to get some repairs done.”
