"Why wouldn't I?" I asked, leaning my face against him. "Probably it would be better if you didn't lie down on top of me like you usually do, but I'd prefer to always get to sleep next to you." When he didn't say anything, I rubbed my cheek against his silken fur. "Besides, neither of us have had nightmares since we've started sleeping in the same bed. I'd like to keep up the streak of neither of us waking up screaming."

"As my Queen desires," he said. Dain rubbed his face on me, almost hard enough to knock me over. "I can glamor a hole in the wall, though I think that the bed wouldn't appreciate my full weight on it. Luckily our bedroom is on the ground floor, as I also think that the upstairs floor wouldn't appreciate my weight."

I laughed and rubbed my hand on the underside of his jaw, eliciting a pleased rumble. "C'mon, then," I said. "Let's go get settled in."

The bedroom proved to be lovely and rustic, with a bed equally as large as the one Dain and I shared at the Antlered Palace, and massive picture windows looking out over the mountains. Thanks to the high ceilings, he could stand up in the room, barely, and when he laid down his body took up a significant majority of the floorspace. Dain dropped his head onto the bed with a happy-sounding sigh, and eyed me much in the way a dog does when he's very comfortable and wants you to come over to give him some good pets.

I obliged, of course, scratching behind his ears while he made deep, rumbling noises of sheer bliss. My light dinner left something to be desired after a two-hour ride, so once I'd exhausted my arms I left Dain there and moseyed out into the rest of the lodge to seek out some food. I encountered a fae woman, who practically jumped out of her skin upon seeing me appear in the house without coming through the door, but once I'd managed to soothe her I acquired a second snacky dinner and returned to the bedroom.

I didn't bother getting anything for Dain. He was way too large to even attempt to feed dinner.

Dain chatted with me while I ate, leaning up against his warm side, then watched me get ready for bed with a lustful gaze I would have recognized anywhere, the heat of desire in those golden eyes.

With a smirk, I stretched, lacing my fingers together and pushing them up over my head to give him a little bit of a show.

"Tormenting me?" he asked, making his voice come from the general vicinity of his head. Dain licked his lips as he said it, making me smirk even more.

"Doesn't have to be torment," I replied, waggling my eyebrows at him.
