The lord leaned forward and I offered him my ear, listening carefully as he gave me instructions on how to use my gift. The other Leah kept screaming and sobbing, as if she had any say in any of this. It was annoying. I shoved her far, far away and focused on the smile on Lord Miaquen's face as he leaned back. I'd come here to please Axily, and the chance to please his friend was just as good. They'd like me and be happy and then Dain would be proud of me for making friends for us.
"Now, don't ruin the surprise," he said. "You should forget all about the present as soon as you use it, and forget about us, too."
"Of course," I replied, nodding, a silly smile on my face. I loved knowing exactly what people wanted. It made it so easy to please them. "Is there anything else I can do for you?"
"The most important thing is to make your soulmate happy," Lord Miaquen said, something desperate flashing in his eyes. "Give him everything he wants."
"Yes, I'll do that," I said. It was such an easy promise to make. To make Lord Miaquen happy, and to make Dain happy? Even the thought of it made me breathless with joy. I looked up at Axily, who'd been silent through the whole exchange. "What about you, Axily?" I asked. "Is there anything I can do for you?"
He looked down at me, then flicked his eyes over to Lord Miaquen, who gave him a small nod. "Let's return to your rooms, your highness, so you can await the crown prince."
"Perfect!" I stood and pushed my chair in, then swept Lord Miquen a deep curtsy. I wished I could thank him for the opportunity to make so many people happy, but that would put him in a bad position, and I couldn't do something like that. Sometimes it was very annoying to live in Faery. "It has been an absolute pleasure, my lord."
"Farewell, your highness," he said gravely, before I wheeled and swept out of the garden, practically skipping on my way back to wait for Dain.

Chapter 47
Obedience
I curled up naked in his bed, sensitive and writhing. Oh, he smelled so good, heat and ferality, his sheets and pillow giving me a foretaste of what I'd have when he came.
Dain loved me, and wanted me with every fiber of his being. Dain, I needed to make Dain happy, but he wasn't here and I couldn't make him happy if he wasn't here. I'd been waiting so long, hours it felt like, even though I knew it couldn't have even been thirty minutes. But it was too long, I was supposed to make him happy and I couldn't do that if he wasn't here.
