This time I cackle. “The second, please.”

“I’m not joking.”

“Good.”

“We could get Lyle one for Christmas.”

“Please don’t speak his name while we’re naked.”

Cameron smirks, thrusting against me again, and I gasp. “I had you first, and I’ll have you last.”

“You’ll have me forever.”

“It’s only fair. I’ve been yours since the moment I saw you.”

I wake to Cameron’s long, blessed fingers teasing another rolling orgasm out of me. I haven’t even opened my eyes and already today is the best day. His beard tickles, sending the most perfect shivers down my skin as he places open-mouth kisses across my breasts and down my stomach, but before he can get any farther, I wake fully and pull him up.

“One more,” he whispers, his smile all brilliant white teeth and damnable charm.

I giggle, still breathless. “Get real, Cam. I won’t be able to walk as it is. We don’t have to make up for all ten years in one night.”

“It’s a new day,” he points out, and I kiss him hard because, suddenly, in the light of morning, I am feeling too, too much.

We pull apart and I trace a fingertip along the side of his handsome face. “How about we shower, and I return the favor and start your day off right, and then, if you want, you can wash my hair?”

He sprints out of bed and I laugh, even as I take a long, lingering look at his behind.

The man has a spectacular ass. On top of spectacular thighs. And in between?

Heaven. A personal heaven created just for me. If this is my reward for all those years of misery and meltdowns?

Worth it.

Cameron drops me off at home later that morning and I see a car waiting in the drive. Lorelai.

“Want me to come in?”

“I thought you had to get to your mom’s?”

“I do,” he admits. “But I feel like I’m leaving you to face the firing squad alone.”

I snicker. “It’s just Lorelai. She’s mostly bark.” I release my seat belt and lean forward, intending to give him a quick kiss, but his lips chase me down and his hand slides up, grazing the side of my breast, setting me on fire all over again.

He slips his thumb back and forth, teasing, and I arch automatically against his palm, seeking more contact. Right when I’m considering how much room I have to straddle his lap in his truck, there’s a rap on the window. We pull apart and Cameron’s smile is sheepish mixed with adorably proud. He tries to subtly adjust himself while waving out the window. “Hey, Lorelai.”

I close my eyes, squeezing my knees together and trying to calm down my racing heart, not ready to face my best friend.
