“Would DB allow something like that, though?” Mina says, swirling the straw of her strawberry mojito. “Studying fashion? Designing your own line? They’d probably say it would take too much time away from your Girls Forever schedule.”
Sigh. Leave it to Mina to ruin the mood. Again. “We’re talking about the future. What’s your bucket-list dream anyway?”
“Mine?” Mina blinks. “I don’t have one.”
“I thought you said you wanted to act in Hollywood one day?” Lizzie says.
“That was just between us,” Mina says, shooting her a look. “Besides, I didn’t mean it like a bucket-list dream or anything. It’s just something that I thought might be fun.”
“Sorry. I didn’t know it was a secret,” Lizzie says, biting her lip. “But for what it’s worth, I think you’d totally fit in in Hollywood.”
“Me too,” I agree. And I mean it. I’ve never heard Mina talk about Hollywood before, but she’s definitely got the glamour for it. And the ambition.
“Me three,” Ari adds.
A corner of Mina’s lip quirks up in a smile. “I think so too.” Her smile fades. “But my dad would never go for it. He wants me to stay in Korea forever, where he can keep an eye on me.” There’s a deflated note in her voice, but she quickly shrugs it off before any of us can comment. She lifts her sunglasses, her eyes shining with a wicked grin. “So I guess I’ll just have to settle for a more achievable bucket-list dream.”
“Oh yeah? What’s that?” Eunji asks.
“World domination, obviously.”
“So cheesy,” Lizzie says, rolling her eyes.
Mina splashes water at Lizzie with her foot, making Lizzie scream and splash her back. Soon all the girls are splashing each other, yelling and laughing and trying to protect their drinks. I laugh along, but my mind keeps circling back to what Mina said.
I know I said I was talking about the future, but truthfully, I’ve been imagining a future that’s sooner rather than later. Would DB really not support me if I wanted to do something fashion-related now?
By the time we leave Sentosa and head back into Singapore to check into our hotel for the night, I’m beat from a long day in the sun. It’s a perfect evening to turn in early, order dim sum from room service, and try out some new sheet masks. I’m just deciding between the Pearl Serum and the Aloe Soothing when Leah shows up in my room, bursting with energy. I swear this girl never gets tired.
“We’re sneaking out,” she says, holding a pair of sunglasses. “You have your sunnies, right?”
