A special shout-out to my former Ithaca College professor and friend Diane McPherson, who saved me in so many ways just by being visible.

And to the person I fell in love with once upon a very long time ago, who now exists only in my mind, who inspired Jack Reid: Wherever you are, whoever you are today, I wish you every happiness in the world. Thank you.
