Eisani pulled the truck up behind Alex’s chauffeured Bentley. Her driver, Puente, was standing outside the car smoking a cigarette. He saw Kisa and rushed over to open her door. “Hello, Señora Montega.”
“Hello, Puente. How are you?”
“I’m good, and you?”
“Just fine. Did Alex go in already?”
“Yes.”
“I have a bag in the back for her. Can I give it to you?”
“Sure, sure.” Kisa went to reach for the back door, but Puente stopped her. “I get it, you go.”
“Thank you.” Kisa grabbed her YSL python bag and headed into the restaurant.
Kisa found Alexandria sitting at a table, engrossed in a conversation with two Colombian women. Kisa recognized one of them as Alexandria’s deceased husband’s sister.
When Alexandria saw Kisa approaching, she stood up to greet her with a hug. “Kisa, you remember my sister-in-law Delinda?”
“Yes, I do,” Kisa said, reaching over to shake hands.
“This is Juana.” Alex pointed to the other lady. “She is a very close friend of the family.”
“Nice to meet you,” Kisa said, greeting her with a handshake also.
“Likewise,” Juana replied.
The server walked up and handed Kisa a menu. She looked at the plates of food already on the table; each looked like a work of art. Kisa returned the menu, “Just bring me a dry martini with five olives.” She leaned over and whispered to Alexandria, “I gave the money to Puente already.”
“That’s fine. I asked you to meet me here because my people have thirty kilos of top-quality heroin coming in with the shipment today. Do you think your customers will be interested?”
“Honestly, I don’t know,” Kisa replied. “My people tend to be a little funny about that boy. We all know how good the money is, but the time that comes with it is too crazy.”
“I think once you hear the price,” Delinda interjected with a slick smile, “you will not be able to resist.”
Delinda’s comment peaked Kisa’s interest. “So what’s the ticket?”
“If you take all thirty, you can get them for twenty-five K each,” Delinda said. “I’m quite sure that you know the retail value is fifty apiece.”
Kisa calculated the numbers in her mind. She already knew that she could sell them for less than the retail value and still make a substantial profit. “I do have two people who I believe would be very interested. If I can get them to want to buy them.” Kisa turned to Alexandria. “I’ll give you a call and you can send them over.”
“That’s sounds good,” Alexandria replied. “Enough business. We have to finish our lunch, or we will be late for the matinee.”
Right then Kisa received an urgent text from Eisani that read: WE HAVE TO GO ASAP.
