I want him. With the way his body reacted to mine, I daresay he wants me too.
“Don’t overthink this, Wren.” His nose brushes mine.
“Easy to say.”
“Easy to do,” he replies, tilting my head up. “I know you’re feeling this too. Just let yourself go for once.”
Could I simply let go and forget about possible feelings developing? I never did in the past, but is it so crazy to think we could get physical without having emotions involved? Plenty of people do it. It can’t be impossible.
God, I can’t believe I’m even considering this.
“Just tell me what you’re thinking,” he pleads on a sigh.
I blink, his gaze on mine centering me in the here and now. “I’m thinking this is the only thing I could offer you.”
“Huh?”
“Casual. No falling for each other.” My head bobs up and down as I convince myself. “That’s my ground rule.” I gulp again, feeling my resolve melting under his stare. “Take it or leave it.”
A beat passes before he so much as moves. That’s not what he was expecting, but it’s what I can give him.
“All right,” he says.
“All right?”
“Yes, cariño. We’re doing this.”
That damn nickname. I have no idea what it means, and it drives me crazy. I won’t look it up, though. I like wondering about it. Imagining it means something nice.
Before I can respond to his agreement, he grabs my backside and pulls me to him so my body slams into his. I gasp.
Through the window, I spot a flurry of snowflakes falling, a storm brewing. As if we’re being warned about this. Too late.
Slowly, he leans forward. My lips part as the tension in my body reaches its breaking point.
“Now,” he murmurs above my mouth, “can I kiss you?”
The second I nod, he dives in, and I know this was the right decision. The taste of him is exactly what I imagine the minute after jumping off the plane to be like, just before the parachute opens. Pure ecstasy.
Immediately, I climb on my tiptoes and pull at his hair, kissing him harder.
His tongue slowly enters my mouth, and I know I’ll never get enough of this. He fits perfectly against me. Our kiss is just as electric as the first, like two tidal waves meeting and forming something even bigger.
I can’t breathe. It’s so much better than anything I’ve ever experienced.
And still, I can’t help but dive back inside my head. With the way he’s kissing and touching me, reducing me to a pile of goo on the ground, he must’ve done this a thousand times before. Meanwhile, my last kiss goes back to high school and my only sexual experiences have been with myself. This is going to be a disaster. An embarrassing disaster.
