  93. ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Thank you to my Patreon patrons, whose support keeps me writing, and keeps me dreaming. Thank you in particular to Krista, Hope, everyone in the Story Grove, and the entire Word Garden community—you guys are amazing, and I can’t wait to see your books on the shelves. A special thank-you to my admin & mod team who diligently keep the discord from bursting into flames.

Can I put Taylor Swift and everyone who had a hand in Avatar: The Last Airbender in my acknowledgments? Because I’m going to. They’ll never know who I am, yet their art remains the life rings I cling to when I have nothing else.

To the readers, book bloggers, librarians, and booksellers who have fiercely supported this book, and so many other sapphic books, with a staggering and almost terrifying passion—I am utterly verklempt at your support, and eternally grateful.

Ranka, I’m very sorry for literally everything that happens in this book. I didn’t know it at the time, but when I was writing your path to healing, I was writing mine, too. You made my dreams come true. And I am so glad you are everyone else’s problem now.

And lastly, to anyone who saw themselves in these pages, and to the kids who survived—this book is for you, first and always. Never let anyone tell you that you are unworthy of love.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

REBECCA MIX spent her childhood tromping through swamps and falling out of very tall trees–which, in hindsight, explains a lot. A reluctant reader at first, she fell in love with books after joining a reading contest to spite her fourth grade nemesis. She studied English at Oakland University and now balances working full-time in PR with writing books about messy girls, eerie magic, and hope. Rebecca lives in southeast Michigan with her boyfriend, two very spoiled cats, and far too many plants. This is her debut novel.
