JVHS: Miss, this is simply—

NR: I don’t care what it is. Please answer the question.

JVHS: Now, there’s no need to be difficult.

NR: I am not being difficult. I’m asserting my rights.

JVHS: Miss, we just want to ask you a few questions.

NR: You may ask and I will decide if I want to answer.

JVHS: Can you please walk us through what you did after the pool party ended?

NR: Pass. Next question.

Suspect: Jane Doe 1

JVHS: We’ve been informed that there was a pool party last night. Can you walk us through what you did after it ended?

JD1: There are cameras everywhere in this house. You know exactly where I was, what I was doing, and who I was doing it with.

JVHS: We’d like to hear it in your own words.

JD1: Oh, I see, so you know that we know that you know but are hoping to catch one of us in a lie. Human memories are extremely unreliable. Let me save you some time: Use the video. Unless you don’t have any.

JVHS: What makes you think that’s the case?

JD1: Why else would you be wasting time here?

JVHS: Standard procedure. Just covering our bases. So, if you don’t mind—

JD1: I do mind. Greatly. My guess is you have the video but for some reason, there are missing pieces. Someone was with her, and you can’t move forward without any proof of wrongdoing. You set up this little charade to smoke them out by using what we tell you to trick them into confessing.

JVHS: That’s quite the story.

JD1: My God, you really need to work on your poker face. I can’t believe you’re going with something that basic.
