Lucas immediately reactivated another Wind Wall, and the Firebolts were redirected into the wall to the right just as they had been before. As if he had predicted what was going to happen, Lagrand then fired off several additional Firebolts. This time, however, he aimed the blasts up and to the left. The Wind Wall caught them, but instead of turning them away harmlessly into the wall, they were blown up and over the wall and directly toward Lucas.

Lucas, watching in horror as the myriad Firebolts came straight toward him. He couldn’t believe that someone had been able to predict so precisely the spell’s movement as it passed over the air-wall. He tried to cast an Earthen Wall, but he wasn’t quick enough, and two Firebolts crashed into the ground on either side of him. Even though they weren’t direct hits, their combined damage still ripped away 127 Hit Points, leaving him at 349 total and making him happy he had sunk the extra 20 points into Fortitude.

“You can’t win, you filthy cur,” Lagrand laughed. “I’m the boss of the island, and you’re . . . What? Just a crappy player teamed up with Xun Guan? The worst dungeon leader in the game? Just give up and die already. I’m going to log off, ban you, and fire her anyway.” He immediately shot an Ice Fist into Lucas’s newly erected Earthen Wall and then five more Firebolts at Lucas. This time, however, Lucas was able to anticipate Lagrand’s move. Almost instantly, he swapped the origin point and the destination point, reversing the flow of air within the Wind Wall. Rather than being sucked directly toward him, the Firebolts were pulled away in the opposite direction.

Lucas let out a deep breath that he had unknowingly been holding when he saw that his play had worked. He was doing everything he could to counteract Lagrand’s nonstop assault, but the other man’s constant use of Ice Fist to shatter the Earthen Walls and Firebolts to attack was a rather simple yet incredibly effective strategy.

“I don’t care what you say,” Lucas replied. “I’m going to hurt you. I’m going to make you die right here, right now, for my own amusement nonetheless.” Finally swapping back to offense, Lucas constructed an earthen barrier along the same route as the Wind Wall and tossed an Exploding Tear in the air toward the ceiling. The water bomb caught the large man off guard as it hit him, and liquid poured out in all directions as the spell exploded, knocking him to the side.
