Lagrand then followed up with three rapidly shot Firebolts aimed straight at Lucas. The Firebolt spell cost much less energy than the Exploding Tear, so he was able to send three at Lucas nearly instantly, and Lucas knew that his Exploding Tear would only be able to block one of the Firebolts, not all of them. In an attempt to catch them all, Lucas instead cast Wind Wall, quickly designating the right side of the room as the origin point and the left as the finishing point. The giant barrier of wind swept away the Firebolts and sent them careening into the wall.

“But that person,”—Lucas sent another Static Web through the fading field of Wind—“isn’t who she is. She’s Liu, and she’s fine as she is. She’s beautiful as she is, not that it is something you get to decide one way or the other.”

“Lying? I’m just telling the truth. I’m just doing what you should be doing: chasing pleasure. You’re the idiot trying to make things complicated so you can, what? Respect some hussy who isn’t even your girl? Stop white knighting like she matters to you.” Lagrand threw another Rock Lob, but the flying clods of dirt and stone were blown aside by the last gusts of Lucas’s Wind Wall.

Lucas decided to try something different and threw up two Earthen Walls, shutting Lagrand in on the other side of the barriers so that he couldn’t see Liu or Lucas.

“Liu,” Lucas said, turning toward the woman, who was doing her best to compose herself. She still seemed to be in a bit of shock. “Liu, I can’t beat this guy myself.” He put a hand on her back as he tried to think about how to handle the situation. He had cast ten spells, burning 400 of his 1100 Arcane Energy. While it was regenerating at a rate of 11 per second, he had every reason to believe that he was using it faster than Lagrand since Lucas was just a player boss and Lagrand was an actual boss.

“Right,” Liu said, taking in a deep breath and removing her backpack. Before she could even get it over her shoulder, however, a giant frozen fist made of Ice crashed through one of Lucas’s barriers. It proceeded to punch three giant man-sized holes in the wall, and seconds later, the construct crumbled to pieces. The moment the barrier fell, three Firebolts sizzled through the empty space, headed straight for Liu.
