“I . . . I swear I didn’t actually . . .” The guard began making an excuse to one of his two friends as he helped them back up. The gashes had been heavily mitigated by their armor, but they had still been deep and severe enough to knock the two men out of combat.
Lucas flipped the guard a gold coin. “Take them into town for proper treatment and get a beer on me for the three of you when you’re finished.” It was quicker for him to do that than pull out a Healer’s scepter and take care of it himself.
“Yes, sir. Of course.” The guard took the coin and then helped his two friends limp out of the room as everyone watched in awkward silence. Given how much the poor guard struggled to make sure he could support both of his comrades, it was somewhat of a sight to observe—and completely worth the gold coin.
After they left, Lucas read the quest prompt that had appeared as soon as he had unleashed the spell.
Class Acceptance Quest Completed: Meddling Minds.
Your Charisma score was high enough to allow you to cast the spell Meddling Minds. You impressed the teacher enough to believe you have talent worthy of nurturing. Would you like to accept the class change? [Future changes to this class will only require the class weapon.]
[Yes / No]
Quest Note: While the guards have zero base Charisma, the spell and other Enchanter primary spells will function differently against enemies based on their own Charisma score. The duration of the effect is based on the difference between your total Charisma score versus the target’s total Charisma. If the target’s Charisma matches your own, it will have no effect.
Yes, Lucas thought immediately, reaching out his hand and hitting the “Yes” button to switch class. As soon the change was made, he felt a qualitative difference in the Arcanum coursing through him.
You are now an Enchanter.
Channeling has been increased to 10% of total Arcane Energy per second for Enchanter-friendly spells. These include all elemental and Charisma-based Arcanum spells.
Warning: Using more than 5% of your total Arcane Energy per second to cast elemental spells will cause you to begin attuning to the element of the spell you are casting.
