“Chris?” My brow furrowed. “Which one?” We had more than one man with that name.

“Sinders.”

I stared straight into Brent’s eyes. “Are you sure?”

“Yeah, totally.”

“Why do you think he did it? He’d been with us for a long time. Why turn against us?”

Brent shrugged. “I don’t know. Maybe they offered him something. He liked to go for a drink at a certain bar near the Desaltis’ area during his time off. Someone must have found him there. He also mentioned something about you not being as good a leader as Romeo. He wanted to switch sides, I guess, so he might have had to do something to prove his loyalty to the Desaltis. Telling them about the drug was the perfect opportunity.”

“Yeah, it’s possible, although I don’t understand how he could get the information about where we were going and why. He was just a guard.”

“But he was in the hallway, and he might have overheard one of the men talk about their mission, or I don’t know. We’ll find out more soon. But now that we no longer have to worry about him, we have to make a move against the Desaltis. I have a plan on how to...”

I lifted my hand. “Yeah, you’re right. Now that it’s safe, why don’t you go gather all the men in our conference room? I want to announce to them that the mole has been dealt with and that we need to prepare a plan for the Desaltis. Are you in the right state of mind to do that for me?”

He nodded, straightening his shirt. “Yeah, I’m sorry about earlier. I was... I didn’t expect Chris could betray us. He was with us for years, but I guess people change.”

“Yeah, they do.”

“Can I have my gun back now?” he asked.

“Sure.” I offered him a small smile as I handed the gun to him. He gave me a forced smile in return and headed for the door.

Hopefully, after today, there’d be no more moles around here.

I STOOD IN THE MIDDLE of the room as everyone was gathered around me. Well, not everyone, mostly those off duty who were still here and those who didn’t have any important jobs to do. But I knew that whatever I said in this room would reach all of those who worked for me eventually, especially since this had to do with a mole. James was in the crowd too, but he was standing farther back, his forehead mildly creased. Before I’d gotten here, Brent had taken me to see Chris’ body.
