On its waterfront is the Caes Pharoux landing stage, the Nictheroy ferry slips, and the landing stages of the boats for Paqueta, Theresopolis and the Cantagallo railway station of Sant’Anna. The “Largo de S. Francisco de Paula,” lying just at Francisco the head of the Rua do Ouvidor, is small and possesses no special interest in itself, but its central position and the number of tramway lines starting from or near it, render it of much importance to the travelling public. It contains a small garden in which is a statue of José Bonifacio de Andrada e Silva, erected in 1872.
