- About the Author
Megan sighed then did as he’d asked. Dreamy music filled the room and a skinny woman in a purple tracksuit started talking about breathing from the base of the abdomen to the tips of shoulders.
“Hey, anyone in?”
“In here, Georgie,” Megan called.
“You really should lock your door, Megan. There’s nutters out there. They could just wander in.” Brendon shook his head and paused the DVD.
“Hey, are you calling me a nutter?” Georgie said, appearing in the doorway. She dropped her handbag and sweater on the couch.
“You said it.” Brendon grinned.
“This was in your letterbox.” Georgie held up an envelope. It had Megan typed on the front. “Hand delivered, by the looks of it.”
“Thanks, I’ll open it after this.”
“What are you doing?” Georgie tipped her head and studied them sitting on the floor.
“Yoga,” Brendon said. “It’s the only way Megan can cope with telling us about the date with Hot Guy.” He rolled his eyes. “She’s freaking out. She messed up…but it’s okay, we just need the facts, that’s all. Then we can decide on her best course of action.”
“Hey, I am here, you know.” Megan frowned and crossed her legs the way she used to when sitting at school as a child.
“Yes, for now…Runner.”
“Bloody hell, what happened?” Georgie sat too, facing the TV and with her legs crossed in the same way as Megan and Brendon.
“Take deep breaths, Megan,” Brendon said, “from your core, each rib expanding and contracting, and I’ll fill Georgie in.”
“There’s not much to say—” Megan started.
“Breathe, with your fingers like this, make them open and close.” He placed his hands on his lower ribs and breathed in deep, his fingers splaying as his chest expanded.
Megan copied.
“So she went out,” he said, turning to Georgie. “Beautiful food, candles, great conversation and then went back to his place for a bit of how’s your father.”
“Oh, Megan, back in the saddle then.” Georgie winked at her.
Megan’s frown deepened. “Don’t. I’m already wishing I hadn’t jumped into bed with him on a first date. He’ll think I’m easy.”
“I don’t think so, it wasn’t a first date,” Brendon said, hitting play again on the TV but keeping the sound on mute. “Come on, everyone into cobra.”
“What?” Megan said.
“Now, it’s good for you. Chop, chop.”
Megan and Georgie shared a look then lay on their stomachs the way Brendon was with their backs curved into a ‘C’ shape and their arms locked in front of them.
“What do you mean?” Megan said. “It wasn’t a first date?”
“Well…” Brendon said, fluttering his eyes shut. “You had wine at Frank’s and then lunch at the studio. Technically, it was a third date.”
