- About the Author
“I’d spend time getting to know you, enjoying watching you speak, smile, laugh.” He paused and leaned a little closer.
Megan could feel his body heat now. His shoulder was just touching hers. She swiped her tongue over her bottom lip. “And what else would you do?”
“And then I’d hope, at the end of the evening, when I dropped you home that perhaps I’d be able to steal a kiss.”
“A kiss,” she whispered.
“Yes, just a kiss, nothing more, that would be enough to make me feel like I’d won an Oscar.” He moved closer still, his nose now only an inch from hers. “And then I’d ask you out again, hope that you’d say yes and I’d perhaps be lucky enough to kiss you again. Maybe hold you in my arms too.”
“I think…that sounds perfect.”
“You do?”
“Yes, all of it.” Megan rested her free hand on his shoulder and felt the hardness of his body beneath. “Especially the kissing part.”
“I’m glad you think so.”
She could smell him and feel his breath on her cheek.
“I think, maybe…” she said. “You should show me this kiss.”
He released her hand and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. “Are you sure?”
“Yes…”
He cupped her jaw and pressed his lips over hers.
Megan sighed into the kiss, loving being reminded of just how good he was with his mouth. He peeked his tongue between her lips, swept it over the tip of hers, all the time holding her face in a gentle but possessive hold.
Megan adored the feeling of being surrounded by him. He was firm yet tender, controlling yet gentle.
“Damn, you taste so good,” he said, his lips moving against hers as he spoke.
“You feel good,” she answered, running her hand down to his elbow, taking in the contours of his biceps, then back up again. She slid her hand further and rested it against his neck, his pulse beating against her palm, strong and steady but a little quick.
“Megan, I…” He shifted on the seat.
She smiled at him and reached for the top button on his shirt. Instead of rushing frantically, this time she slowly undid it, then the next and the next.
James sat very still, watching her intently, almost as if he was afraid she might run off into the night at any moment if he broke the spell.
But Megan was going nowhere. As she undid each button, another few inches of his flesh was revealed. Sun-kissed flesh that was stretched over taut muscles. She reached his navel, tugged the shirt from the waistband of his trousers.
“Megan,” he murmured, reaching for both her wrists and wrapping his big fingers around them.
“Yes?” She stilled. His hold was tight.
“Do you want to take this upstairs…to bed?”
