- About the Author
“Yes, that’s what I called you until I found out your name’s Megan.”
She smiled. He had a nickname for her? That was so adorable. But she’d keep the fact that she privately called him Hot Guy under wraps—for now at least.
She glanced into the darkness. There was a slight fog building up. Was there someone there?
“So is that your office?” James asked, pointing at Winter Shoes headquarters, which only consisted of one door and one window.
“Yes, it is. Only small for now but one day it will be a global empire.” She laughed. “Actually, I might just grab something. I was mid flow on a new design when I had to leave earlier. I’ll take it home and carry on with it later, if I don’t I just know it will play on my mind.”
“Your creativity doesn’t switch off then?”
“No, I dream of shoes.” She chuckled then stopped, thinking of the nightmare she’d had about getting her heel stuck as she ran down the aisle. “Well, you know what I mean. I adore them, they’re my bread and butter and I hope my designs will lead to big things when they get noticed properly.”
“I’m sure they will, you sound very passionate about your business. Come on then, you can show me your office. The place you plan to co-ordinate this world domination of the glamorous shoe industry.” James set his palm against the small of her back and urged her over the cobbles.
Megan liked the feel of his hand on her, the weight of it, the span of his fingers. Damn, he could put those hands in other places and she wouldn’t complain.
She was also a little lightheaded from the wine.
She found her key and unlocked the entrance.
James flicked on a light and clicked the door shut behind them. “Nice.” As he had in the bar, he removed his jacket and dropped it on the chair.
“Well, like I said, it’s not very big and it’s a bit…messy. But it’s perfectly organised, just…spread out.” She reached for the blind she’d forgotten to close earlier and dropped it down to cover the window. She didn’t like to think passers-by could see in and spot her designs.
He smiled and picked up a pink and silver stiletto. He turned it over, examined the base then held it to the light. “Is this one of yours?”
“Yes, that’s a prototype for my summer range.”
He nodded and set it on the desk.
Megan searched around for her pencil case, likely it was on the floor. It was hard to think straight with Hot Guy in her office. She couldn’t deny she’d had the odd fantasy about him over the last few months, only small ones of course, because she’d been engaged. But still…
