  25. About the Author

Maybe he could come back to London before his next project. Take some downtime, and spend it wining and dining Megan, taking her to the cinema, the theatre, for walks in the park. Yes, that’s what he would do.

He stopped at a red light and tapped his fingers on the steering wheel. Why the hell did LA and London have to be so damn far apart? And why had bloody Walder gone on a bender and screwed up not just his own life, but James’ too?

The driver in the car behind him honked his horn. The traffic lights had changed. James raised his hand in apology and carried on down the high street. It was getting dark, he’d left later than he’d planned but all was good. They’d finished the editing by staying an extra hour and now he had nowhere to be in the morning.

Thoughts of waking up with Megan made him smile. She’d be there. Where could she run to when they were at her place? He’d get to finally have breakfast with her, see her hair mussed from their night-time activities, perhaps even get to give her a soap down in the shower. Damn, that was a nice thought, seeing and feeling Megan when she was all wet, warm and sudsy…

He shifted on the seat. He really had to get a grip of his testosterone. It was raging.

A sudden thought entered his mind.

What if Megan came with him to LA?

Sure it was moving things quickly, but hey, who had time to hang about in life? He wanted her and was pretty sure she wanted him too.

She could come for a holiday, an extended holiday if she wanted. He’d only be at work in the day, they’d have long sunny evenings together. He could take her to the swankiest eateries, for walks on the beach, perhaps they could take a trip to Vegas and throw some dice.

Excitement tickled over his skin and he pulled in a deep breath. Maybe things would go further and she’d set up a branch of Winter Shoes out there, on Rodeo Drive. Wow, that’d be amazing, she’d love it. He’d back her if she needed it, though she seemed to be managing pretty well on her own—she was an independent, successful woman who knew what she wanted and went after it.

Well, sometimes she ran from it first.

He smiled a little indulgently, knowing that he’d caught her in the end.

Yes, that’s what he’d do. They’d eat dinner, drink champagne, he’d kiss her all over, then he’d ask her to come out to his place in LA. With a bit of luck she wouldn’t be able to resist, and he’d spoil her rotten—she didn’t have to doubt that for a second.
