- About the Author
She should tell him about jilting Dylan, she knew she should. About running out of a church packed full of their family and friends. But she couldn’t. Shame ate away at her for letting the dysfunctional relationship go so far. Not to mention she knew that many people thought she was a total cow for what she’d done.
She didn’t want James to think that of her. Of all the things he probably thought, she couldn’t stand it if he thought she was a cow.
“Megan,” he whispered, his mouth hovering over hers. “What is it?”
“I’m just stupid sometimes. I get freaked out. I don’t know why.” She looked into his eyes. “Can you forgive me?”
“I was so bloody angry with you yesterday,” he said, slipping one hand around the back of her neck, then threading his fingers into her hair. “I thought I’d done something wrong. I couldn’t understand why you wouldn’t have told me if I’d messed up big time.”
“No, no, you did nothing wrong. It was all…perfect.” Oh and it had been, mind-blowingly, toe-curlingly perfect.
“Perfect,” he said, a slow smile stretching his lips. “I can live with that.”
Megan let her bags fall to the floor and slipped her hands around his waist, spreading her fingers wide and taking in the strong, tense muscles that lined his spine.
Right now she’d happily have his shirt vanish into thin air.
“I told myself not to want you,” he said, “that you’re only going to mess with my head, but the truth is…”
“What?” She drifted her hands up his back to his shoulders, pulled him closer.
“I just can’t help myself.” He kissed her.
Megan melted against him, pressing her body to his chest and gripping his hair.
Her heart rate rocketed. She wanted more, she couldn’t get close enough.
He groaned and darted his tongue into her mouth. “I can’t stop thinking about you,” he murmured, kissing her cheek. “Of having you in my bed.”
“Yes, me too.”
“Everything about you is so sweet.” He nibbled her earlobe. “The way you taste, how you respond to me…”
Arousal flooded Megan’s veins. She wanted all of that now. She pushed against him.
“Ah, yeah…” he muttered, scooping his other hand under her thigh.
Megan took the hint and wrapped her leg around his hip. “James.” She gasped.
“I don’t know when I last wanted someone so badly,” he said, his voice a little breathless. “You’re driving me crazy.” He looked downward, watching his own movements as he stroked her through the thin top. “I want to strip you naked, touch you, make you scream my name.”
“We can’t, not in here.” But damn, she was tempted. She glanced at the door, wondering if it had a lock.
“No?” He rubbed against her, through their clothes. “You sure?”
