He shrugs. “That too. A year before I caught her with another guy, we fixed our relationship—or so I thought.”
I shake my head. “It’s hard to trust people once they let you down.”
The conversation is getting a little serious, so I take the opportunity to ask about us, “What’s going to happen to us once we’re back home?”
Carefully, he brushes the strands of wet hair around my face and smiles. “I forgot my tarot cards, Ms. Solis, but why don’t we start with a proper date on Saturday.”
I press my lips together. “I just don’t want this to affect my position.”
He moves us around and pushes me lightly against the pool wall. “The only positions we should be worrying about at the moment are pretty simple, Ms. Solis. On top, against the wall, in the shower, the pool, or we can even try the bed for a change.”
“You think you’re funny, don’t you?”
“Just practical,” he says. “Listen, once we’re back in Colorado, we can discuss our future. You might be dropping my ass once you realize I choose work over everything, even my relationships.”
“You’re here.”
He nods. “There’s that too. You’re becoming my favorite person. I can’t think of anything else but the feel of you against me, your voice, and that intoxicating taste that is driving me insane.”
“Lines, lines, and more lines,” I say, trying to keep my toes on the ground and my head above the water, literally and figuratively.
He’s such a smooth talker, but he seems so honest.
Oh, Claire, you’re a goner. Earlier, you almost said, I love you.
Is it possible to fall so fast for someone who I used to detest?
His finger goes under my chin; he lifts my face and our gazes connect. “I’m not perfect, Princess. I can’t promise this will be a smooth ride. I will fuck up and when I do, I hope you can forgive me.”
I open my mouth to say something, but he gives me a peck on the lips.
“Listen, I promise to never interrupt your vacations, weekends, and holidays with work. Our relationship starts and ends outside the company. We’ll always keep it professional while we’re at work. This won’t interfere with your position in any way.”
“I trust you,” I mumble, kissing him slowly.
He captures my tongue and kisses me passionately as he lines up the head of his length with my opening, thrusting inside. Any fears, doubts, or concerns about our future disappear as our mouths fuse and our bodies melt into one. We burn as we make love. I feel alive. Every part of my body awakes with his touch, his kisses, and every thrust.
I want to capture this moment forever.
I want us to continue like this forever.
