- About the Author
- Also By Claudia Burgoa
She might kick me out of her life for good. This moment is all I want to experience for the rest of my life. It’s been impossible to move on from her. I can’t get her out of my head or from underneath my skin. Her heat runs through my veins. Her words, her smart mouth, and her kindness are what make me want to be a better man.
How do I convince her to stay by my side?
I kiss the top of her head and leave her a note before going to the main house to find some breakfast.
Fetching food for my woman, I’ll be back soon.
Love,
Miller
When I arrive back, she’s already dressed and staring at the note.
“Hey,” I greet her.
“You could’ve left a note the last time too.”
“I did,” I say, giving her a confused look. “Right on top of the nightstand.”
“There was nothing,” she says, shaking her head.
“I swear, I left you a note.”
Setting up the table, I pull out the chair so she can take a seat.
“On that note, I promised to come back before dinner. That’s where I failed and made the biggest mistake of my entire life,” I insist. “I thought work was more important than anything until I lost you.”
“Did you mean what you said last night?”
“That I love you and will do everything in my power to make up for lost time.” I nod.
“No, that you’ll give me this project.” She grins.
“Princess, you wound me. I’m baring my soul, and you only worry about work. But if that’s what you want.”
She shakes her head. “Look, I’m not sure how this is going to work but—”
There’s a knock on the door, Tony steps into the house without waiting for us to open.
“Good, I’m glad you two are here. We want you to send the proposal. Since talking to two different people might become complicated, Eva and I decided to have Ms. Solis in charge.”
Claire grins. I want to believe it’s because we have the green light and not because she’s in charge of the project, and I’m going to report to her.
I had forgotten how easy it is to work with Claire. By noon, we deliver a draft with a couple of ideas. Not the proposal. She wants them to think about what they like best from the two and then we can work on something more concrete.
Since we don’t have a good reason to stay, I book us a charter and we fly back to Denver. We spend most of the time locked in the plane’s bedroom making love. I just can’t get enough of her and by the way she’s responding, I think she feels the same.
