“Like I’m going to believe you. Lace is your favorite if I remember,” she says. “How about if you stop fantasizing about me?”

“If I recall, you couldn’t look away from my body last night,” I dare to say, taunting her. “We could exchange more than just glances.”

“Black lace,” she says and smirks. “Your favorite.”

I nod slowly and swallow hard. My eyes trail up and down her body. God she’s killing me.

“Are you sure you want to talk about my favorites, Princess?” I grin. “You, licking frosting off... me.”

I clear my throat. “No wait, that’s your favorite along with my tongue—on you.”

She blushes and huffs, speeding up her pace.

When we enter the building, I call the elevator and once we enter the cart, I glance at her. She’s looking at the floor and taking deep breaths. I’d pay good money to know what she’s thinking. Without thinking twice, I press the stop button.

“What are you doing?”

“Your eyes crinkle when you know you’re making me horny,” I say. “If you want to play with fire, you might burn, Claire.”

“I have no idea what you’re talking about.” She smirks. “You wanted to know about my dressing attire. I’m just providing some information.”

I cage her between my arms. Leaning closer to her, I whisper, “Yes, you do. And you know what I think.”

“Miller,” she whispers my name.

“You want me as much as I do.”

Her chest heaves. I can feel the heat emanating from her body.

I cup her face and slant my mouth over hers. Her hesitation only lasts for a couple of seconds before she opens her mouth and lets me deepen the kiss. I press her hard against the steel wall, tilting her head and kissing her harder.

Claire moans. That sound takes me back to Cancun. The world stops and it’s just the two of us again. Until she pushes me back slightly and breaks our connection.

“We’re over, Miller Archer,” she mumbles.

Claire gasps as I rest my forehead on top of hers.

“That kiss told me a different story,” I whisper, caressing her lower lip with my thumb.

I press the red button again. The doors open on the first floor and I step outside.

“Enjoy your ride, Princess.”

“Where are you going?”

“I’m taking the stairs, baby. One of us has to put on the brakes.”

“Brakes?”

“I’m not the only one wishing we can fuck, Claire. I know you.”

“You don’t know anything,” she says as the doors close.

Fuck, am I going to be able to control myself long enough to fix us?

Life can be fucking frustrating.
