“You did a great job delegating, instead of breathing down everyone’s neck to make sure everything was set up properly,” Danielle commiserates with me.
“Tomorrow we have to start setting up meetings with potential clients,” I ignore her.
She pulls out her phone and starts tapping it. I give her a list of some of the companies I’d like to visit. My non-compete clause with 23 Media Inc. has expired; I can reintroduce myself to my old clients and remind them what I can do for their companies.
“Your meeting with the wine guy is set for tomorrow, at eleven thirty. I made reservations at the Italian bistro next to his offices for twelve o’clock, per your request,” she confirms. “We can set our first official branch meeting tomorrow at nine.”
“Just for this week, next Monday, let's go back to…Mondays,” I suggest and smile at my stupid joke.
She nods. “Well, since Shelby and Edith have set the Monday conference at three o’clock, I thought you might want to hold the branch one on Tuesdays after you had talked to the big bosses.”
“Let’s do that for now. Maybe, I can convince them to switch it to Monday’s at seven in the morning.”
She nods and makes some notes.
I check my to-do list, trying to figure out what else I need to delegate. Car shopping is part of it, but that’s something I have to do with Thomas. Tomorrow, I’ll take the light rail. Maybe I can borrow a car from my parents.
Thinking about Mom and Dad brings me to the next bullet, Reggie. “Have we found a place where we can go to yoga?”
“For us,” she pauses and nods, “yes, but not for Reggie. Isn’t there any famous park around here?”
“Wash Park,” I say, a little confused. “Well, it’s not that close but that might be it.”
“I’ll research if they have something there. What else do you have on that magical list of requests?”
Danielle is a master when it comes to organizing my schedule. I stopped trying to do it myself and let her decide, so I ask, “Do you think we’ll be ready to receive him next Monday?”
“I would keep him at your parents for another week,” she suggests.
“But after that, I’ll be able to walk him every three hours like I used to?” I ask.
She nods. “I’ll make it work and we will make sure you go back to having Mondays mornings off, well, unless you switch the partner meeting to seven in the morning.”
“I trust you. You’re the best,” I say. “How about your Friday afternoon off?”
She waves me off. “Get some rest. You haven’t taken a break.”
I shrug. “I’ll run a couple of miles, stretch, and maybe do yoga on the terrace.”
