- Meet Melissa
They rode the highs of their passion, and when they finally, reluctantly descended from their peaks, Tracey collapsed in his arms, burying her face in his neck with a contented sigh. He leaned against the bar to combat his shaking legs, still buried deep inside her. Heat pulsed in the air around them, their hearts thundering, and he felt high as the damn sky, reborn. He didn’t know what the hell was going on, but one thing was for sure. He was overcome with the power of them. It took everything he had to shove those feelings onto that towering mountain, praying it wouldn’t come crashing down.
Or maybe hoping it would.
He didn’t fucking know about that, either.
All he knew was that whenever Tracey was in his arms, there was no place else he’d rather be.
Chapter Ten
TRACEY DUG THROUGH her clothes late Sunday morning, choosing an outfit for her motorcycle ride with Diesel. She put on a T-shirt and jeans and was just about to sit on the bed to put on her sneakers when her phone rang and Josie’s name flashed on the screen. Shoot. Diesel was going to be there any minute. But they’d played telephone tag all day yesterday, and she wanted to share her excitement with Josie.
She sat down and put her phone to her ear. “Hey. Sorry I forgot to call you back. I had a class with Lior yesterday, and we ended up talking about the attack and everything that’s happened since, and then I worked an eight-hour shift, and—”
“You and Diesel got lost in the sheets?” Josie teased.
Tracey laughed and finished tying her laces. “Pretty much.”
“Yay! Please tell me he’s worth blowing off your bestie.”
“He definitely is, but I am sorry.”
“Don’t be. I get it. But I want all the dirty details. One minute you’re going out with Dr. Rhys, and the next Jed’s telling me that Diesel kissed you and you two are a couple! What is going on? How did this happen?”
“I don’t know,” Tracey said a little giddily. “I went out with Damon, and he was funny and charming. You know how he is.”
“I know he’s one of Peaceful Harbor’s most eligible bachelors and Diesel barely strings full sentences together, so keep going.”
“I had a great time with Damon, but there was no spark, and I couldn’t stop thinking about Diesel.”
“That’s what wanting a guy for nearly two years does to a girl.”
