- Meet Melissa
He kissed her forehead. “I bit that bare ass last night. You’re not hiding it from me.” He threw the sheets off, moving over her, loving the blush on her cheeks so much he kissed one. “Why’re you blushing?”
“Because I’m not used to waking up naked with the guy I’ve been crushing on.”
He kissed her neck. “You’ve been crushin’ on me, sweet thing?”
“Shut up.” She wrinkled her nose, whispering, “I can’t believe I’m here.”
“Why not?”
“Because of your revolving bedroom door. I never pictured myself as one of your bed bunnies.”
“The door doesn’t revolve as often as you think.”
“Please. I see you leaving the bar with women all the time. You don’t have to pretend otherwise. Just don’t go doing it now that we’re together, or you’ll never have me in your bed again.”
He fucking loved her confidence, but he needed to set the record straight. “You think I fucked all those women?”
She shrugged, looking vulnerable and sweet enough to eat.
“I’m not an asshole, Trace. I don’t take advantage of drunk women. I drove most of them home, and yeah, I screwed some of the sober ones. But that’s all they were, quick and dirty, mostly clothed, fucks, and they knew going into it that it wouldn’t be anything more.”
“And how many of them have gotten to wake up in your arms?” She turned her face away and closed her eyes. “Don’t tell me. I don’t want to know. I hate sounding jealous. I’m sorry I asked.”
“Baby girl, when it comes to you, I wrote the book on jealousy.” He kissed her cheek, and she opened her eyes, beaming up at him.
“Yeah, you kind of did.” She laughed.
“There’s only one woman who’s woken up in my bed or in my arms, and I’m lookin’ at her.”
She rolled her eyes. “Come on, Diesel.”
“Don’t question my word, sparky. You might not always like what I have to say, but I respect you too much to lie to you. You know how I feel about being touched. Do you really think I’d let someone I don’t care about sleep in my bed all night?”
She shook her head, grinning like she’d won a prize. “You let me sleep on you the night I was attacked.”
“Damn right I did. Doesn’t that tell you something?”
“Yes. It tells me a lot. But this tells me even more.” She reached up as if she were going to put her arms around him, but she put her hands on his cheeks instead.
