- Meet Melissa
Church was starting in twenty minutes, the perfect excuse to get the hell out of there early. He looked at Tracey nearing the bar and shot a glare at Izzy, who had been bitching at him since she’d come in for her shift. “You take her. I’m outta here.”
Izzy glowered. “What crawled up your ass and died tonight?”
It wasn’t his ass that had been affected. It was that fucking organ in his chest, which was more dangerous than a machine gun. He turned away, but not before he saw the shattered look in Tracey’s eyes. He’d gone up against some of the toughest guys around, and not one could take him to his knees the way that sexy little waif did.
As he headed for the front door, Jeanette, a tall blonde he’d hooked up with earlier in the summer, walked in with two of her girlfriends, dressed to impress in tight jeans, high heels, and cleavage-baring shirts. Jeanette’s eyes locked on Diesel. She tossed her hair over her shoulders, smiling seductively as she sauntered up to him, stopping only when her breasts brushed against his arm. “I’m glad you’re here. Now I can have a really good time.”
“I’m on my way to a meeting.”
“That’s okay. I need time anyway. I’ll text you for a ride later.” She winked and went to join her friends.
Diesel uttered a curse as he left the bar and headed around back. He blew through the doors of the clubhouse, heading straight for the fridge as his buddies called out greetings. He opened a beer and guzzled it down. It was times like these he was glad he’d set up a gym in the back room. He needed the outlet now more than ever.
Bullet sidled up to him with Bear on his heels. “What’s got your balls in a knot?”
“Nothin’.” He tossed the empty bottle in the trash and pulled out another.
Bear clapped a hand on Diesel’s and Bullet’s shoulders. “How’s it going?”
Diesel eyed Bear’s hand on his shoulder.
Bear stepped back. “Sorry, man. I forgot you don’t like to be touched.” He cocked a grin. “I gotta ask. How does that work with the ladies?”
“However the hell I want it to.” Diesel took another drink, biting back thoughts of how much he’d liked being touched by Tracey, and it hadn’t even been sexual.
Bear nudged Bullet. “Sounds like someone needs to get laid.”
Diesel glowered at him. “I’m not in the mood, buddy.”
“Sorry, man.” Bear’s expression turned serious. “Anything I can help with?”
The only thing that’ll help is hitting the road, putting miles between me and that sweet little temptress. “Yeah, I need to talk to you guys about the bar. Have you thought about who to replace me with after I take off?”
