- Meet Melissa
The women practically ran after the others, and as promised, Sarah finished with her customer quickly, and the woman thanked her profusely before rushing toward the stage.
“This is nuts. If I ever want to get married, remind me to elope.” Izzy plucked a cookie from the table and took a bite.
“Not me,” Roni said. “I know Quincy and I aren’t engaged yet, and between his recovery and getting my dance company off the ground, we have a few years before we’ll be ready to take that step. But one day I hope to see him standing at the other end of the aisle, looking at me like I’m all he ever wanted, and I want all of you guys there to celebrate with us. We don’t need a big, expensive wedding, but after everything Quincy has been through, he deserves a celebration, and all this just makes me want it more.”
“Well, it’s a good thing you want one,” Dixie said. “Because Quincy can’t wait to see you walk down the aisle.”
“I loved our wedding, and I’m glad we waited until Maggie Rose was born and our lives were settled,” Sarah said.
“I’m glad we’re waiting until the baby is born, so I can fit into a wedding dress,” Penny said.
“Keep eating those cupcakes and you might not,” Finlay teased.
“Pen, you have a busy year coming up with the wedding and the Sweet ’n Savory Dessert Festival,” Tracey said.
Penny owned Luscious Licks ice cream shop. She had been trying to get an invitation to exhibit at the festival for years, and Scott was instrumental in making it happen. They were all excited for her.
“Don’t forget our babymoon.” Penny rubbed her belly. “I think I’m going to need to hire more people for the ice cream shop.”
“I’ll help when I can,” Josie offered. “Your life is going to be crazy once you get that little baby home and realize you can kiss sleep and long hot showers goodbye.”
“But that won’t matter,” Finlay reassured her. “Because you and Scott will be so in love with each other and the baby, that’s all you’ll think about.”
“Did you find a wedding gown?” Sarah asked.
“She found about fifty of them,” Dixie said. “Jax has an enormous booth near the stage…”
