  33. An Invitation from the Publisher

Every book comes from somewhere – or at least that’s what I always thought. But it turns out, as I continue on this writing journey, that I’ve been so lucky to get to share with you, that not all books are born the same way.

This book came from nowhere and I’m not sure that as I sit here tonight, trying to think of who to thank that I’ll even get close to figuring out where to start, much less finish.

So, first off, thank you to the Aria Girls – my lovely editor Rachel Faulkner-Willcocks who has helped me knock this book into much better shape and Bianca, Helena, Nikky, Jessie, Jade, Victoria, Ayo and Amy who all worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make sure this book fell into your hands. Thank you to Laura Palmer for her enthusiasm for a Christmas book that is a little different to my other books.

Thanks to Simon Hess, Declan and Helen.

It is lovely to have an opportunity to work with you all.

Thank you to Miriam Kett at Newbridge Silverware for the gorgeous sun, moon and stars locket from their fantastic collection.

I’m lucky to have a brilliant agent, Judith Murdoch, who continues to be equal parts sage, master planner, the voice of reason and good fun too.

Thanks always to my family – Cristín, Tomás, Roisín and Seán – the best gang. To James for more than I can begin to list – I hope you’re not keeping count! To Bernadine, David and Christine Cafferkey – for ongoing support and advice on too many fronts to mention. I count myself as very, very lucky to have you all.

The book world, as I know it, is a wonderful place – there are so many bloggers, reviewers and booklovers who spread the love for books, just for the joy of sharing something that will delight others. I am indebted to your generosity for the kind things you’ve said about my books to date, for the reviews, the blog tours and the recommendations. You have helped to make this journey even more joyous than I could have ever imagined.

Finally, I’ve said it a million times probably, already, but I have the very best readers. Once more, I do hope you’ve enjoyed this book. It is slightly different to my other books, but it’s written with love and the hope that even if you do shed a tear, you will end up with a warm-hearted glow by the end. In other words – I hope you enjoy it every bit as much as I loved writing it!
