“It is a long shot, I know. But considering that Robin had had problems with drugs, it is possible that he could have had contact with our man. And now, when Pim talked about another girl, I had to ask if it was Ida.”
“That’s great, really. Now give me the car keys.”
“Are you that cold?” Henrik asked.
“Yes. Not everyone can afford high-tech, name-brand gear,” she said, glaring at Jana.
Henrik pulled the keys from his pocket and gave them to Mia, who immediately set off for the parking lot.
“I’ll wait in the car,” she shouted over her shoulder.
Jana followed her with her gaze, gripping her briefcase so hard that her knuckles whitened.
“You believe that this Ida witnessed Stenberg’s murder?” she asked.
“Yes,” Henrik said.
“So where is she now?”
Jana turned her gaze to Henrik, looking straight into his eyes.
“That’s what we need to find out,” he said, meeting her gaze.

CHAPTER NINETEEN
HENRIK LEVIN LIFTED his gaze when Anders Wester came into the room and sat at the table where Gunnar, Mia, Ola, Jana and Per were already seated.
“Are you going to be presenting any suspects today?” Anders asked, his eyebrows raised.
“No, we haven’t gotten that far yet,” Henrik said with uncertainty in his voice, looking at Gunnar.
“And yet you have no less than two representatives from the prosecution here already,” Anders continued, looking at Jana and Per.
Per stretched a little uncomfortably, but Jana didn’t move a muscle.
“We may collaborate here in a way that you aren’t familiar with,” Gunnar said. “On the other hand, we aren’t used to having National Crime in the room, either. But thank you for pointing that out and welcome to the meeting. Shall we begin?”
Gunnar turned toward Henrik.
“Yes, well, last Thursday night,” Henrik began, “Pimnapat Pandith, whom we can call Pim, arrives in Norrköping by train with her friend Siriporn Chaiyen. Siriporn, who also goes by Noi, dies of an overdose. Pim is in shock and runs from the train where a man in a car is waiting for her. According to what she herself has told us, she is taken to a room, which she describes as cold and located near water. It might be an abandoned summer cottage, a shed or a boathouse of some sort.”
“But a boathouse wouldn’t necessarily have two stories, would it?” Mia interrupted. “I’d be more inclined to believe it was an abandoned cottage or something.”
Henrik nodded and continued, “In any case, Pim is able to escape from the room or cottage and is found by Christian Bergvall, who calls the emergency number. She’s now receiving care at the hospital. We will keep her there, and we’ve put a guard on her because she is likely sitting on important information that someone doesn’t want us to know.”
