This time Frazer did drop her fork on her plate. Most likely without luck, she tried to not glare. Meg was now staring between the two of them openly. “Jemma!” Frazer hissed.

“It’s not like she knows them.” Jemma was gazing at her as if she really had no idea what the big problem was.

Anger threatened to boil over in Frazer’s stomach and she took a gulp of her beer to try and smother it and not misdirect it at her sister. Even though she deserved it. “Not the point.”

Meg was looking back down at her plate. She stalled with a large sip of wine.

“What if I’d told Rob or Andy all about your affair with your lecturer?”

Jemma shovelled a forkful of food into her mouth. “It’s not like they would tell on me; they’re cool.”

Clearly, her sister and she were very different people.

There was an urge to defend herself, which Frazer knew was stupid, but she turned to Meg anyway and said, “Try not to judge me too harshly on crappy choices.”

Meg shrugged. “Slept with a student. Still hoping the faculty don’t find out. No judging.”

“Good to hear.” Frazer fiddled with the label on the bottle. “I left Cora alone like she asked. She watched me all over the hospital, I yelled at her about it—”

“You yelled at her for looking at you?” Jemma’s eyebrows raised.

“She wasn’t just looking…but, like, watching.”

The incredulous expression didn’t leave Jemma’s face. “Okay. But, like, what kind of watching?”

“I don’t know.”

Meg asked, “The kind with longing glances…her eyes following you all around the rooms?”

“Maybe.”

Meg smirked. She and Jemma clearly belonged together. “Girl wants you,” she said.

Jemma nudged Meg with her shoulder, eyes wide. Her glee was infuriating. “Right? She so does.”

Frazer ripped apart some bread. Shredded it, really.

“Put down your phone.”

Wide-eyed at Lisa, Cora did just that, all but dropping it on the sofa in a poor effort to look innocent.

“We agreed.” Lisa crossed her arms. “No messaging Frazer. Give her a few days to calm down.”

“But, she doesn’t know—”

“It doesn’t matter. She needs a few days.”

Cora sighed. “Why are you always right?”

“Because I have no relationship of my own, so I invest in others.” Lisa plopped down across from her on the floor. “That’s why we got you your keys early. To give you the distraction of a new house.”

“Yes, yes, I know. The Ikea delivery is late, though.”

“Probably takes a while to get most of their store into one truck.”

Cora chuckled. “It’s not my fault I needed everything.”

They sat on the couch Lisa had bought her as a surprise gift, the only thing in the house right now besides Cora’s two huge suitcases in the corner.
