“Probably, not forever; it depends. But after the birth, it will settle down if you don’t want to feed the baby.” Frazer was a little out of her depth on how to make him feel better. She didn’t want to dismiss it and make him feel like it was a bad thing to worry about, but she didn’t want to make it into a big deal either. “Does that make you feel worse?”
He continued to watch his foot. “It all feels pretty bad.”
Incredibly grateful she’d got this programme going when she had, Frazer nodded. “I bet it does. But we’re all here, okay? And Cora has the name of an awesome psychologist, one who works with LGBT kids all the time.”
When he finally looked up, it was with wide eyes. “I can’t afford that.”
Frazer winked. “Medicare can—and you and Cora are going to sort out your card and get you into the programme that gets it all paid for.”
At that, his shoulders relaxed slightly. “Okay.”
At the door, he paused. “Thanks, Frazer.”
That thank you and the sincerity in his eyes made Frazer think that even if she was making a mess of her private life, at least this was going right.
The prenatal consulting room was silent only for a minute until an odd sensation made Frazer look up from her computer. She started slightly when she saw Cora leaning against the door frame.
“Hey.” Frazer breathed out.
“Hi.”
When Cora entered the room, she left the door open. At that, Frazer relaxed into her chair. Friend visit. A sandwich was launched towards her, and she just managed to catch it before it hit her in the face.
“Hey!”
Cora sat across from her in the chair Jack had just vacated. “You thought quick enough, calm down.”
“Lucky it’s my favourite.”
Rye with cream cheese, tomato, cucumber, and bacon. Nothing better. Frazer bit in with relish. The bread was fresh. Giving a groan, she settled back to eat. “This is amazing. Thank you.”
Cora was looking at her strangely.
“What?”
With a shrug, Cora licked her lip. “You’re, ah, rather orgasmic when you eat.”
Flicking her eyes to the open door and back to Cora, Frazer grinned. “Well, you’d know.”
It worked. She turned bright red. “So my competition is a bacon sandwich?”
“It’s bacon-on-rye, Cora. There’s no competition.”
Raising her eyebrows, Cora cocked her head. The heat of her gaze ran slowly down Frazer’s body, settling for a split second in her lap before rising again. She simply bit into her sandwich, chewing slowly, the pink of her tongue darting across her bottom lip.
This time, heat spread over Frazer’s cheeks. “Maybe there’s a little.”
The smirk on Cora’s lips shouldn’t have been so satisfying to see, but it was.
“So, to what do I owe this visit?”
“You just saw Jack, right?” Cora asked.
