Some of the sadness slid out of her eyes only to be replaced by a blank expression.
“Your turn,” I prompted when she didn’t speak.
“Thank you.”
My eyes narrowed and I jerked back. “That’s it?”
“Well, yeah, thank you for knowing I’d be angry at—”
“I don’t want your gratitude, I want you to explain to me how we got there.”
“Got there?”
Jesus, I was fast losing my hold on my irritation.
“Yeah, Sloane, how’d we get from you sitting on my lap in the viewing room to me finger-fucking you in a privacy room? Was it Jacob eating—”
“No,” she snapped. “It had nothing to do with the show. I promise.”
“Then I need you to explain it to me. I was careful not to touch you. Hell, I was thinking of a thousand things to keep my mind occupied so I wouldn’t think of you in my lap in that short-ass excuse of a dress you were wearing.”
Maybe that was why when I saw her in my t-shirt waiting for me at the door I felt relief instead of jealousy. My shirt was longer and baggier than the form-fitting cocktail dress she’d worn to work.
Yeah, that was bullshit, but I was going with that instead of admitting I was a knuckle-dragging caveman who liked seeing her in my tee and what that said to my friends.
“There’s nothing wrong with my dress,” she shot back.
“We’re not talking about the dress. We’re talking about the lengths I went to so my dick wouldn’t get hard under your ass with you wiggling around and the wrong conclusions you could draw from that.”
“I told you, it wasn’t the show. At least not entirely.”
What the fuck?
“What’s that mean?”
I didn’t know why I was pressing the issue so hard. There wasn’t a damn thing wrong with getting hot from watching porn—whether it be live or on a screen. But I had to know if it was her being close to me or if it was Jacob eating his woman’s pussy in front of her that turned her on.
Sloane blew out a stuttered breath. And suddenly I didn’t want to know, not when I watched the embarrassment wash over her.
“Sweetness—”
“I was jealous,” she admitted, and I felt every muscle in my body contract. “I mean, not because of Jacob. I was jealous of her…I mean, jealous of what she was feeling.” Sloane trailed off and when she stammered out the rest of her explanation my body got tighter and tighter. “She sounded like she was in the throes of a pleasure I’d never known. I was jealous of that. Then you licked my neck and put your hand on my throat and suddenly I could no longer hear the moans or see what was happening in front of me. All of my attention was on your hand wrapped around my throat and how much I liked it there. Then you told me, in another place and time you’d have my dress around my hips and my mind wandered to that place. And I guess I got carried away in my fantasy. But it wasn’t the show, it was you. I’m sorry, Asher. I know—”
