“And you didn’t think to call me back? Or better yet, tell me you had eyes on my woman?”

“I was a little busy chasing three women hopping from tree to tree while I was trying to keep a location on that motherfucker. Plus, there’s no goddamn service out here or I would’ve called for backup.”

Backup?

A loud, agonized sob came from the ground. We all looked down at Will. His eyes were still closed, he was motionless, but he was crying.

“What happened to him?” Cole asked.

“I busted a nut, that’s what happened,” I announced. “Though there was no popping, so I kept twisting. His face went pale and he went down so I guess I did it right. Oh, and I think I got some of his dick in the grab portion of the grab, squeeze, and twist.”

“Come again?” Davis asked.

“I busted a nut. You know, popped his balls. Broke his dick off. Whatever you wanna call it.”

Then suddenly all four men’s laughter rang out.

It was loud and they did it for a very long time.

Asher was the first to settle and when he did he pulled me into his arms and kissed my forehead.

“Proud of you, baby.”

“Thanks. I was going to shoot that guy, but I couldn’t reach the trigger with my gloves on.”

“Thank God for that,” the guy grumbled. “Though after hearing what you did to Will, I’d take the bullet wound over the nut-busting.”

“Who are you?” I asked.

The man looked at Asher, then down at Will and finally his gaze came back to me.

“My name’s Tim.”

“Who’s taking him in?” Asher asked.

“You.”

“You’re still under?”

Again I was totally lost but I was so damn cold I didn’t care what they were talking about as long as they hurried the hell up so Asher could take me home. I needed a hot shower and a cup of coffee.

“Twenty months and counting.”

“Jesus.”

“You know how it is.” Tim shrugged and smiled at me. “Sorry to hear about Elise. I was holding out hope for you.”

“You knew Elise?”

“No, but I knew why you were there. Good friends like you are hard to come by.”

Without saying goodbye, Tim turned and walked away.

“What just happened?”

Asher leaned close and whispered, “He’s DEA.”

“Seriously?”

“Yup.”

Holy shit. I almost shot an undercover DEA agent.

Thank God I was wearing my ski gloves.

“Do I need to wait around for Will to come-to? I’m freezing and I want to check on Letty and Brooklyn.”

“They’re with Rhode and River.”

Okay, that was good.

“Can you walk me back or can Cole? I think my blood is turning to ice and I still need to finish decorating.”

“Sloane, baby, you were just stalked and chased through a tree farm and you wanna get home to decorate?”

“I was stalked, chased, tackled, and I busted a nut. But now that you mention it, before I decorate I’m gonna take a nice, long, hot bath.”
