- ABOUT THE AUTHOR
I left the dishwasher open and stepped into the bathroom near Endgame’s room. “Seriously, he and I just spent the weekend together, like talk about putting pressure on right at the beginning of a relationship.” The bathroom might need to be set on fire instead of cleaned. The amount of toothpaste all over the sink was alarming. There was a buzz from the intercom. My first thought was Endgame was coming back. “Hey, let me get this.”
Austin and I were both by the front door when he hit the app to get to the camera for the entrance to show on his phone. It was Teddi and Peaches, beaming into the screen with her arms full of clothes.
“Open up, sunshine.” Peaches wiggled her phone.
Austin opened the door and behind the girls were Gaze, Ruffian, Milt, and Pixie Rae. They all trudged past. I gave Austin a side-eye and he seemed to have no idea what this was about either. I ended the call with Peaches as she hopped by me.
They all had piles of white lace and taffeta. Teddi hefted hers in my direction.
In no time we had what was basically a full-on wedding thrift store in the living room. Teddi was already organizing. She and Pixie were noting the sizes inside the dresses.
“Care to explain?” Austin picked at the hem of a nineties era dream bride gown.
“Oh, yeah. We saw the bullshit that was on Taylor’s college website, and we’ve had enough.” Teddi picked up one gown and started sizing it on Gaze’s broad back. “This one will work for you, but I don’t think you'll be able to zip it.”
Gaze took the gown and started stepping into it. Pixie hopped over the coffee table. “Let me help.”
Ruffian came up next to Austin. “If we’re all brides, then nobody can say anything. You guys are just trendsetters is all.” Ruffian squeezed Austin’s shoulder.
“What?” Austin was amused but still confused.
“We’re having a flash bride-ing.” Teddi unzipped another garment bag. “I’ve contacted everyone I can think of, and we’re all going to show up on Main Street as brides. Today. In four hours.”
Austin shook his head. “That’s my sister. Why ignore something when we can make a party out of it?”
“Listen, no one gives my brother shit. I'll end this chick and anyone that works with her. Milt is going on a deep dive of anyone that’s ever dealt with her. He will have the entire picture.” She pointed to Milt. All his friends had laptops open while Pixie, Gaze, and Teddi sized the gowns to the shoulders.
Austin stepped in. “If they can fit the waist around their necks, the dress should fit. Insider info just for you, Teddi Bear.”
