  86. ABOUT THE AUTHOR

I heard a door close and I figured it was to put some more distance between Taylor and me while she had her conversation and I had mine. The next phone call I had was Teddi.

“Tinsley, I’m gonna have to call you back. My sister is on the phone,” I said.

She told me good luck as I switched over to answer Teddi.

Teddi immediately started in, “Whoever is doing it is a problem, and I have Gaze and Pixie, Ruffian and Milt on the phone right now.”

I loved my family, and I loved that they immediately began circling to defend me. Of most importance, possibly, on the line was Milt, who had a background in computers that I probably would have called first had I not been fielding phone calls from my concerned friends and family. “Hey, Milt, what can you tell me so far?”

Milt’s end of the conversation came through. “Well, I got my guys on it and the IP address has been run through a VPN, so we’re having slight difficulty locating it. But I'll have it for you within an hour.” Milt’s voice was hard. “I’ll have everything this person has ever done on the internet and their entire life. Their social security number, their dog's name, everything you could ever want on them.”

My brother, Hamilton, and his friends were adorable with their cosplay party company. I forgot that they could do so much with computers, including building them.

“Thanks, Milt. I appreciate that.” I felt a shiver thinking about what they would find about Endgame. Hell, even the fact he was still living with me might be a surprise. Though I knew that they knew. I was secretly hoping that Roberta was the problem. Taylor knew some of what I got involved in with Endgame, but not all of it. I felt like I had a bunch of warriors on my side, but I wasn’t sure this was a fight I wanted them to get involved in.

My beautiful weekend with Taylor was ending on a crushing blow. We would have to go back and handle whatever this was. Tinsley began sending me text messages that she wanted to do the photo shoot with Taylor as soon as possible.

TINSLEY: We will be supporting you and we will be giving the middle finger to anyone who dares to give us the business.

I texted back while listening to Gaze and Pixie ask me how things were going. I heard a soft sniffle and looked up to see Taylor with her eyes filled with tears. “Hey, guys, I have to go. Thank you and I’ll be in touch with anything that we figure out.”

I didn’t have a chance to tell Milt privately that I wanted to make sure that some of my stuff stayed my stuff.

“What’s wrong, beautiful?”
