Well, I guess that’s as good as I’m going to get for now. I slip out of my pinned violet minidress, a handful of sequins sprinkling into a pool at my feet as I redress into my white cashmere sweater and black miniskirt. I woke up super early at the hotel this morning and got back home before any of the girls were awake. I was already dressed and ready to go to the fitting when they all shuffled into the kitchen to grab Mason jars of overnight oats on our way out.

Then, just as we’re about to leave the fitting room, one of our managers enters and approaches me.

“Rachel?” she says. “Mr. Noh would like to see you in his office when you’re finished here.”

“Oooooh,” Jiyoon says dramatically, like I’ve just been called to see the principal. “Somebody’s in trouble,” she singsongs.

I roll my eyes, but feel a clench in my gut. Am I in trouble? Has he changed his mind about my fashion line already? Maybe I’m overthinking. After all, last time I was called into a private exec meeting, they offered me and Leah a reality show. I guess this could really go either way.

“I’ll be right there,” I say, and the manager nods and scurries back toward Mr. Noh’s office. I quickly finish getting dressed and slip out of the fitting room. I guess there’s only one way to find out.

As soon as I walk into Mr. Noh’s office, I know right away.

It’s bad.

I can tell by Mr. Noh’s steely expression and the fact that Mr. Han is there, pacing the room, hands clasped tight behind his back. He stops pacing when I walk in.

I bow. “Ahnyounghasaeyo, Mr. Noh, Mr. Han.”

“Sit,” Mr. Noh says, his tone matching the expression on his face.

I do, folding my hands on my lap. For a few excruciating seconds, everyone is silent. The atmosphere in the room is so tense, I can practically feel the knots forming in my shoulders from how tightly I’m holding them. And then Mr. Han speaks.

“Did you stay at a hotel last night?” he asks.

I blink. I don’t know what I expected, but it sure wasn’t that. “I did,” I say slowly.

“The front desk clerk at the Park Hyatt leaked it to Reveal,” Mr. Han says. “Rumors are flying that you were there to meet your secret boyfriend.”
