Eunji looks enviously at Mina. “And I’m going to be doing a shoot for Vogue,” she says, sitting down next to Lizzie.

“Yes, we know, Eunji,” Lizzie says curtly. Eunji ignores her, reaching for a bottle of Yakult with a smug smile on her face. It’s strange to see this little trio sniping at each other, when usually they’re the queen bees, united in their efforts to rag on the rest of us.

Wait a minute.

It just hit me.

Eunji got the Vogue shoot?

So DB didn’t just turn down the offer for me, they reassigned it. I can’t believe it.

“DB told me about the shoot last week,” Eunji continues, as if Lizzie hadn’t spoken. “It’s the first time a K-pop idol has had a feature spread. I can’t believe they wanted me,” she says in a tone that has to be the world’s weakest attempt at modesty. Behind Eunji, Mina rolls her eyes. Eunji may not have great style, but everyone knows that the media and netizens agree that Eunji is probably the most classically beautiful girl in the group. “I’m going in for a wardrobe fitting on Tuesday,” she adds.

Mina comes over to the table with her sparkling water, and there’s a particular set of her jaw, a glint in her eye. “Speaking of wardrobes—I noticed your favorite manager, Hajoon, has a new Montblanc watch. What, your family couldn’t afford a Rolex?”

Parents do this sometimes—bribe managers, or even lower-level DB execs, to get special perks for their daughters. But no one usually brings it up as boldly as Mina just did. Then again, no one is usually as bold as Mina, period.

“Sunhee’s been doing cool things too,” Youngeun cuts in smoothly.

Jiyoon, who has emerged from the bathroom with her hair wrapped in a towel, nudges Sunhee in the side with a grin. “Yeah! Sunhee here landed a hosting gig for SOAR Drama and Entertainment’s new radio show. Tell her, Sun.”

Sunhee blushes and smiles. “I’m going to host their new talk show. It’s really cool. They’re trying to make a more intimate space for artists to talk about what drives them creatively.”

“I always said you have a face for radio, Sun,” Lizzie says, snickering.

Sunhee’s smile falters, and Youngeun reaches over to squeeze her arm. “You’ll be fantastic,” she says.

When it comes to Sunhee, most of the girls fall into one of two camps: picking on her more because she’s the youngest, or being extra protective of her because she’s the youngest. Youngeun may be levelheaded, but she’s a mama bear when it comes to protecting our maknae.

“Definitely,” I agree. “What a perfect opportunity for you!”
