She heard the front door, and called Lenny upstairs. She counted the steps as his feet landed on the stairs and the third step from the top groaned. She was nervous, didn’t know quite where to put herself. Jesus, I feel stupid. She splayed herself on the bed. That didn’t feel right. She sat at its edge, crossing her legs, with her chin resting on her index finger. Not good. She stood with her hands on her hips. I look like fuckin’ Wonder Woman. When he came through the door she was between poses, so in a panic she curtsied. God All-fucking-mighty.
‘What’s this?’ he said, taking in the sexy apparel and attempting to ignore the curtsy.
‘It’s time.’
‘Are you sure?’
‘Positive, but just don’t touch them. No, that’s not fair. You can, but really, really softly.’
‘I don’t know, Grace,’ he said, taking off his suit jacket.
‘Lenny, we are doing this.’
‘And you’re absolutely sure?’
‘Look at me,’ she said, and she was in the Wonder Woman stance again.
He sighed deeply, as though he was a condemned man. ‘OK,’ he said.
‘OK.’
They walked towards one another and he stopped a small distance from her to give way for her new breasts and leaned in, and they kissed and it was tentative and fine but far from passionate. They kissed some more; now he was just buying time. Then they slowly moved over to the bed and she gently sat onto it and lay down and he kissed her some more as she thought get the fuck on with it, but he was careful to hover above her. They didn’t touch from the chest to the crotch. He kissed her neck and, weirdly, her arm. She pulled off her knickers, hoping to make things more interesting. He pulled down his pants and sat on her, rocking a bit too, and after a few minutes it became apparent that he was as soft as butter on a warm day. FUCK!
‘Sorry,’ he said, climbing off her. ‘I’m just tired. It’s been a long week.’
‘No problem,’ she lied.
She took herself into the bathroom and cried.
It will get better; it’s the first attempt. I’m still not completely right. It will be fine.
Seven more months passed and Grace and Lenny still did not have sex.
