  123. ABOUT THE AUTHOR

“Because I was scared of being consumed by you again. Because you were always the only thing that made sense through it all, Rem.” Slowing to a stop, I say, “We both survived the pain, and at the end of it, all those worst ideas culminated in the best mistake of my life.” I pan the camera until it faces the door. “Us.”

She lets out a soft sound I feel in my chest, already moving.

“Open the door, Remi.”

She tosses her phone. I pocket mine, and a second later the door rips open.

“Hi,” I say.

Her gaze falls to the ring I’m holding, and her raspy voice replies, “Hey.”

She looks up at me, lashes fluttering and chest rising faster. I’m so fucking in love with this woman I drown in her and greedily breathe in more.

“I lost you. I found you. I fell even deeper.” I lift her hand and line up the ring. “Now there’s no way out for me. Tell me you’ll marry me.”

“Yes,” she says, nodding as I’m already pushing her finger through the ring.

I catch the side of her neck with my other hand and kiss her as I press her farther into the room.

“Yes to everything,” I remind her, the door shutting behind us.

She grabs me and pulls my mouth back to hers and mumbles, “Yes, yes, yes.”

I warned her it was a dangerous game, but she keeps agreeing to play.

I break away, fingers in her hair, when I tilt her face up to mine. “Let’s get married right now.”

“Foster…” she warns, but I counter, “Remi.”

“It’ll be symbolic. We’ll do the Roman-walk-you-down-the-aisle thing later, but I first loved you here.” My forehead touches hers, then my lips. “I want to keep you forever here.”

“You already have me forever. Heart, body, soul. Always.”

God, I love hearing that promise from her. “I can’t wait to call you my wife. I want to put babies in you…”

“Foster.”

“Help me win, baby. Chase is taunting me like an asshole with Luka—”

“Foster,” she says on a laugh.

Her head tips to the side, telling me to look, and I glance at the bed. At the open pregnancy test box.

“Fuck, Remi. Tell me it’s positive.” All she needs to do is smile, and I smirk. “We’re back in the game.”

Then I’m kissing her. Kissing her, keeping her, settled by her, and obsessed with her.

I’m devoutly hers, always.

A wanderer no more.

Unless she’s at my side.
