Kisa scribbled down an address on a piece of paper and handed it to Alexandria.
Alexandria glanced at the paper. “They’ll be there in an hour.” She smiled.
At this point, fifteen is better than nothing, Kisa thought, riding in the back of the Town Car after leaving Alexandria. If the cocaine was strong, like she knew it would be, she knew just who to call. Kisa scrolled through her contacts until she came to Kennedy’s name.
“Yeah, what up?” Kennedy answered.
“Cuzo, what’s good wit’ you?”
“Nothing,” Kennedy dragged, “at all.”
“Why you sound like that?”
“I’m going through it right now.”
“What’s wrong?”
“Chaz is gone.”
“Gone where? On tour?”
“Nah, he gone gone.”
“Why?”
“He tried to put me out, and you know it wasn’t going down like that.”
“Like what? Kennedy, you not making any sense. Why did he want to put you out?”
“’Cause I had an abortion.”
Kisa was baffled. “You were pregnant?”
“I was.”
“So you really had an abortion? Did you fall and bump ya damn head?”
“No, I didn’t bump my head. I just gave him what his nasty hand called for. That nigga got his baby mother pregnant.”
“Kennedy, I don’t care if he got your sister pregnant. We don’t abort our kids. What the fuck? You going crazy again?” Kisa hated that she’d said the crazy part, seeing how Kennedy’s mental issues were a sensitive topic. “My bad, Ken.”
“No need to apologize, ’cause I’m straight. Ain’t nothing seven thirty about me. I had to show that nigga he’s not gonna have his cake and eat it too.”
Kisa shook her head. “Do you hear yourself, Kennedy? You sound like you buggin’ again.” This time Kisa didn’t take it back. “Man, I’ll talk to you when I see you. I need you to do something for me. I’m coming through to scoop you in ten minutes. Be ready.”
Disgust was clearly displayed upon Kisa’s face when Kennedy got into the car, her hair pulled back in a ponytail and her eyes shielded by big sunglasses. Beneath her floor-length chinchilla, she was dressed modestly in a brown V-neck sweater, 7 jeans, and brown Gucci sneakers. She saw the way Kisa was looking at her. “Kane, you don’t understand.”
“Then make me understand.”
“Look, Ria stepped to me, informing me of her pregnancy. I asked Chaz about it. I didn’t like his answer, so I did what I had to do.”
“What exactly did that bum-bitch Ria say?”
Kennedy told Kisa everything that had happened on the evening of the confrontation with Ria. When Kennedy finished, Kisa asked her, “So why didn’t you punch Ria in her face for being disrespectful?”
“’Cause she’s pregnant.”
