Over the years she’d amassed a small fortune by robbing drug dealers. So if Suef didn’t work out for her, she had her own money to fall back on. Not to mention that if she and Suef went their separate ways, she’d rob him blind.
When he finished addressing his team, Suef slipped his arm around Rellie’s waist and whispered in her ear, “My niggas is cool and all, but together … me and you, we could take over the world.”
“Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. We need to first finish what we started,” she said with a solemn expression.
“You still trippin’?” Suef questioned. He knew that she was upset because Kisa hadn’t been killed.
“I want that bitch dead, Suef.”
“You saying that like my people didn’t try. Those niggas was two of my best hitters. They both died trying to merk that ho. Stop sweating that shit, ’cause in a minute, Kane, Arnessa, and anybody who wit’ ’em gon’ be dead.”
“How did it go?” Kisa asked Eisani and Arnessa as they entered a downtown apartment that Arnessa and Kisa had recently renovated to place on the market. Instead of selling it, they were now using it to lay low.
“It didn’t go,” Eisani responded.
“Why? What happened?”
“Juan won’t fuck with us. He says we’re too hot right now.”
Kisa picked up a box of Virginia Slims off the coffee table. She pulled out one of the long skinny cigarettes, lit it, and took a drag. Normally, Kisa regarded cigarette smoking as a filthy habit, but stress now had her smoking a pack a day. She preferred to smoke some good purple, but getting high wasn’t an option. There was too much going on, and she needed to be on point at all times.
It seemed like every day a new issue popped up, blind-siding her. The day before one of her credit cards had been declined when she attempted to pay for some toiletries. Then she tried two other cards, to no avail. When she tried her bank card, it was also declined. Given the amount of money she had in her bank account, she knew that there was no reason for her debit card to ever be declined. Kisa literally ran to the nearest Citibank to find out what was going on.
The bank manager studied the computer screen with a nervous expression on her face. “Mrs. Montega, I regret to inform you that your accounts have been frozen.”
“Frozen? For what?”
“It looks like a judge issued a warrant. We had no choice but to comply.”
She placed a call to her attorney after leaving the bank and found out that the police had her accounts frozen in an attempt to get Sincere to come out of hiding. Things were going to hell with each passing minute, but nothing could deter Kisa. She’d survived much worse situations.
