- ABOUT THE AUTHOR
“You look really pretty right now. You have intelligent eyes, nice skin, and I really dig your mouth. It’s very kissable. It’s like an invitation to a kiss.”
She almost lifted her fingers and pressed them to her lips. Instead she blinked at him. He dug her mouth? Did that mean . . . would he . . .
“So can I kiss you?” he asked, staring intently at those lips he’d mentioned.
“You want to kiss me?”
“Well, I’m not a Viking pillager who takes what he wants. I always let the lady do the ravaging.”
“Do what?”
“Pillage. Take what she wants.”
The invisible switch that resided somewhere below her belly button and right above her pelvic floor switched on, and a low thrum of desire began to vibrate inside her as she thought about her fingers trailing over his six-pack. He had to have one. Had to. She would be happy to take what she wanted from him. Thrilled, even. “Okay. You can kiss me. Or we can kiss. Both of us together.”
Way to sound weird, Liv.
“Yeah?” he said, sliding the hand that had been resting on the back of the car to the nape of her neck. Just as he leaned toward her, the car dropped again.
“Oh,” Olivia said, grabbing the forearm he’d moved toward her, her mouth falling open as they stopped jerkily on the next level.
Spencer laughed, and then he totally took advantage, covering her mouth with his. And if Olivia thought her stomach had dropped when the ride had started, she couldn’t have come close to imagining the pleasure of being kissed by a superhero on the Ferris wheel.
CHAPTER EIGHTEEN
CHAPTER EIGHTEEN
Chase walked next to Zeke toward the front gate of the festival, holding a huge stuffed frog and occasionally pinching off the pink cotton candy in the bag she carried and popping it into her mouth. Spun sugar was so dope. “I can’t believe you won this for me on the first try.”
Zeke shrugged. “I was an all-district pitcher.”
“That poor carnival guy. He had no clue he’d be coughing up this adorable froggy woggy,” Chase said, addressing the silly, albeit cheap, prize Zeke had won her by knocking down milk cans. She’d had lots of guys give her expensive gifts, but she wasn’t sure she’d ever liked anything as much as she liked this stuffed frog.
“Baby talking to an amphibian? Now I’ve seen everything.” Zeke slid her an amused look.
