I’d been walking for many days when I finally found another house. Now, this house looked extremely familiar. I wondered to myself if I’d visited such a house when I was a child. I felt good about approaching the guard gate and seeing if someone was home.

White Fox finds a small guard house, which is derelict and empty.

She presses on the gate and finds that it swings open.

She walks up the drive, which loops around the house, and she finds that the house itself is nothing more than a set, a shell—empty but for ladders and staircases lining the inside, leading to the roof. And so she climbs, climbs for what seems like hours, without another person in sight.

Shining EYES peek out from the darkness behind White Fox’s feet, out of her sight.

When White Fox reaches the roof, she is stunned by the display.

In absolute darkness, there are tables and tables of cakes and sweets and fruits and all sorts of delectable items.

She eats as if in a frenzy even though she can barely see in the darkness. She finds a lantern off to the side and just as she lights it, there is a SHOUT.

WHITE FOX

Who’s there?

MAN ON THE MOON comes out of the darkness with his multilensed telescoping glasses on.

MAN ON THE MOON

For goodness’ sake, turn off the lights!!!!

White Fox turns off the lamp and squints at the man. He seems a kindly sort.

WHITE FOX

I’m sorry, sir. I didn’t mean to disturb. I’m—

The Man on the Moon waves her off and walks back where he came from, a treacherous dark path that seems to lead farther up the roof!

MAN ON THE MOON

Never mind, never mind. It’s starting!

White Fox follows him.

WHITE FOX

What is starting?

The Man on the Moon rushes off, nimbly navigating the many obstacles in his path (more tables of food and drink) and White Fox follows, nearly killing herself on the lavish display in the process.

They reach the pinnacle of the roof, where the Man on the Moon has telescopes and other similar equipment set up facing the sky.

He positions the telescope as she watches, and then peers through it.

The Man on the Moon then beckons to her to look through the telescope, and she obliges him.

White Fox gazes through the telescope.

She witnesses a surreally vivid LIGHT SHOW of shooting stars and other incredible cosmic sights through its lens.

White Fox is awed.

WHITE FOX

How beautiful.

The Man on the Moon sighs.

MAN ON THE MOON

Beauty is only the start!

The Man on the Moon stops and reaches for a cup of tea that has materialized by his hand.

He hands another to White Fox, who accepts it, even though she wonders where the hot tea came from.

MAN ON THE MOON

How long have you been here, miss?
