- ABOUT THE AUTHOR
- Stalk Me Links
The idea that this worthless piece of pond scum had actually fucked what was mine inside that building turned my anger into something dangerous in my gut. This was the part of me that I kept a lid on. It was the part of me that had a nasty habit of making mistakes. It was the part of me that was irrational, more animal than man, and harder to control.
As the limo pulled out onto the street, so did I, and I followed at a safe distance until we reached an expensive condo building. Sitting across the road, I watched as the two practically crawled out of the back of the car. Halfway to the door, Kirby stumbled and fell onto her hands and knees. I shook my head as Peter laughed. He reached down to help her up but missed her hands, so she fell onto her knees again.
Chivalry was not a word in my vocabulary, but even I had to give this pathetic display an eye roll. I waited until the limo drove off, pulled my hood up, and ran for the front of the condo. Luckily, if the building had a security guard, he wasn’t at the desk, so I ran to the elevator and watched the numbers climb. The elevator stopped on the twenty-third floor, and I looked around for the sign that pointed toward the maintenance room.
Two things I never went anywhere without were my travel pack of tools and my leather gloves. A quick scan of the hallway showed there were no cameras, and I was inside the maintenance room, opening my tools within moments. I could pick the lock on Peter’s door, but this was simply a better option. Wandering over to the metal cabinet marked keys, I opened it and smiled as I spotted the one labeled ‘master.’
Snagging the key, I took off for the stairwell and jogged to the twenty-third floor. Fucker needed an extra special death for making me run up all those stairs. I’d already memorized the floor plan and knew that his room number unit was 2313 from the information I’d gathered. The key slipped into the lock like butter, and I was inside the quiet space with a quick turn of the handle. I stood with the shadows, melting into darkness until it was like we’d become one.
The large condo was very quiet. I took a deep breath when there were no wild sex sounds or bed squeaking noises, which calmed my turbulent rage. As I slipped around the condo, my hand palmed the knife from the sheath on my belt. I took in every piece of artwork and trinket in the place. All of it spoke to this man’s extravagant taste and how very opposite it seemed to Sunshine. Taking a moment, I analyzed the one wall of framed photos, and not one of them had Kirby in them, which I found very interesting.
