About Reveling in Sin
Whitney Gable is the kind of woman you fight to the death to protect.
To keep.
To cherish.
I’ve finally learned my lesson, and it’s time to prove I’m the man who’s worthy of her.
I don’t care what it takes, because failure is not an option.
No matter who or what stands in our way—this time, she’ll be mine forever.
One
Whitney
Ten years ago
My palms turned clammy as I stood in the back room of the small church. I didn’t remember the ride here or even changing from my street clothes into this dress.
Actually, I didn’t really remember picking out the dress either. Everything that had happened in the weeks since my parents’ accident had been a blur.
When I lifted my gaze to the mirror in front of me, I barely recognized the girl staring back at me. My reflection was pale, with dark circles under my eyes. Even the makeup I’d caked on this morning couldn’t hide how I felt. My face looked thin; my stomach had been twisted into so many knots lately that I’d had trouble forcing myself to eat.
I’d asked for a moment of privacy before it was time to walk down the aisle to the man I didn’t want to marry, and thankfully Jackie, Cricket, and Karma all left me alone. Now I stood in silence, dressed in white, wondering how the hell I’d let things get so messed up.
One word formed in my brain and grew louder and louder with each passing second.
Run!
My gaze swung to the small frosted windowpane above the pastor’s desk. It was the only way out of the room other than the door leading into the church—where there was no chance I could escape unnoticed. If I ditched the dress, I might fit through the window . . .
My feet moved of their own volition, taking me nearer to the frosted glass and possible freedom.
And then what would I do? Run to Lincoln? Tell him he was going to lose everything he’d been groomed to inherit for his entire life because I couldn’t go through with marrying a man I didn’t love?
