But because I am me, and I have always had all the tact of a prepubescent teenage boy, I just had to shatter the moment by choosing that as the best time to speak.

“Are you gay?” I asked abruptly.

“I don’t think so, no.” Connie frowned, offended. “Why?”

I motioned between us. “Well, why should be obvious.”

“I like guys,” she defended, “and I’m attracted to them, the way you aren’t. I’m not attracted to girls like that.”

“Well…What is—why are you kissing me then? And—well—all the rest. I figured earlier was a one-time thing.”

“Do you want it to be?” she snapped.

“I—No. No! I’d just…like to know.”

She shrugged, sitting up in my lap. “It’s fun, isn’t it? It’s hot. I’m bored, and you’re desperate and horny.” I opened my mouth to retort, but she cut me off. “You’re just thinking too much,” she murmured, her voice unreadable. I blinked. “Whatever you’re thinking so damn hard about, just…don’t. Stop thinking and just go with it.”

She leaned forward to kiss me again, a little slower this time, until I met her with the same rushed adrenaline as before. When she whimpered gently, I ducked my head to kiss along her jawline and then lower, sucking at her pulse, nipping and biting at the skin.

“You bitch,” she seemed to laugh.

I bit down hard on her neck before soothing over the fresh bruise with my tongue, praising a God I wasn’t sure I believed in for the way her whole body seemed to shiver against me. Emboldened, I kissed her again, before my hands were on her back and I was drawing pale pink lines along her spine with my nails as she clawed at my hair. She continued to grind down against me and I continued to raise my hips to meet her. Religious affairs had never held much appeal for me, nor the questions of Gods or Divinity. But if there had ever been a single thing in my life that came close to constituting a celestial experience, I was sure that this was it.

I took the opportunity to flip Connie over onto her back so that our positions were reversed and then pulled back to examine her closely. Her eyes had darkened, almost dangerously so, and her breath was almost as heavy as mine. I knew we were close, now, to doing something that couldn’t be undone. That sudden realization caught me off guard, sending my mind into a frenzy.

“Connie,” I said abruptly. I leaned back from her a little. “Are—are you—”

She sighed, leaning up on her elbow. I wondered if she had expected this. “Spit it out.”

“I’m just…Are you sure you want—I just mean that I don’t think you—”

She huffed impatiently. “What did I literally just say about thinking so much?”

“I just—Are you sure? It’s completely okay if you don’t want to, we can just forget about it all completely—”

Connie raised an eyebrow. “Are you sure?”
