Lucas also noticed a few women walking toward the town who were dressed as French maids with high stockings and heels. It was as if he had gone from a town representing the ideals of a preacher’s lessons on modesty and austerity to a sinner’s paradise of lechery and gluttony.

“Halt!” one of the guards called, blocking Lucas before he could clear the final stretch toward Dray’s keep. “If you’re looking for the armory to get fitted for battle, it’s not here. This is the estate. Just head back into town, go to the blacksmith named Willmarth, and tell him you need to get fitted properly. Don’t worry about the bill: He’ll send it to the Baron.”

Quest: Dress to Impress.

In polite society, what one wears is as important as who one is, sometimes even more so. A guard without proper attire will be treated without proper respect. To prevent nobility and other guards from disregarding important words or viewing you unfavorably, you must adhere to their clothing criteria. Go to the local blacksmith, Willmarth, and acquire the appropriate uniform of an Imperium Soldier.

“Ah . . .” Lucas winced at the quest pop-up, knowing that he would be delayed. “But I’m here with urgent news for the Baron.”

The guard looked at Lucas skeptically. “In that outfit? How urgent could it be? You should know that the Baron takes looks, and especially uniforms, very seriously.”

“On men too?” Lucas asked, causing the guard to chuckle.

“Right, right. You won’t exist in his eyes except as an eyesore, and men without uniforms are just that. I don’t know how urgent the news is, but if it can wait, I recommend you take care of your problem first,” the guard said.

“Okay . . .” Lucas replied, frowning. He understood what was being said without being spoken aloud: there was no way that he was getting through the gate dressed the way he was. All he could do was turn in the direction the guard indicated and hope that the venture didn’t take him too far out of the way or eat up too much time.

Thankfully, he found Willmarth’s store without too much trouble. Unlike the wooden buildings around it, the shop was made entirely of orangish-red bricks, and when he entered, Lucas noticed that the walls were lined with Imperium armor.

“Repair, pick up, or purchase?” a voice called from underneath the counter.

“Uhh . . . purchase?” Lucas replied, walking toward the counter.

“I only sell to Humans and Imperium soldiers, you know?” the voice continued calling out without its speaker making himself visible, and Lucas could have sworn he heard a clicking sound and a small explosion go off under the counter where the voice came from. “So, if you’re not both of those, you should probably leave now.”
